TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRAINER 1. Key Information Role Entrepreneurship Trainer Location Based in Lusaka, Zambia. Set up On-site at Pathway Centre location (exact location to be determined). Reports to Pathway Centre Manager Works closely with Senior Coach, Career Guidance and Internship Coach, Entrepreneurship Coach Contract Type Full time, starting with one year, with the possibility of renewal Desired start date ASAP 2. Background Be That Girl (BTG) is a philanthropic organisation dedicated to helping adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) lead self-determined lives. We provide holistic support to AGYW from secondary education to post-secondary pathways, focusing on scholarships, mentoring, skills training, and community-based support systems. BTG is opening a Pathway Centre in Lusaka to help young women who have completed secondary education with BTG support successfully transition into post-secondary pathways. The Centre will equip them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to enter one or more of the 3 Es: Entrepreneurship, Higher Education, and Employment. We are looking for an experienced Entrepreneurship Trainer to create and deliver business training to all participants as part of the Centre’s work readiness curriculum, and also help administer loans for business development. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to play a pivotal role in shaping a new initiative with strong growth prospects and its impact in helping women lead self-determined lives. 3. Job Description The Entrepreneurship Trainer will design and deliver high-quality entrepreneurship and business training to participants as part of the Centre’s work-readiness curriculum. The role will equip all participants with foundational business skills. The Trainer will also serve as a bridge to Zambia’s startup and incubation ecosystem, helping participants access further opportunities beyond the Centre. 4. Key Responsibilities Curriculum Development & Training Delivery Design and deliver a core basic business module for all Pathway Centre participants as part of the work-readiness curriculum (including topics such as: business idea generation, financial literacy, customer discovery, basic marketing, record-keeping, and formalisation). Establish a network of external experts on hustling skills (such as baking, pleating hair, and decorating) who can be invited to conduct focused workshops to help participants immediately earn income. Oversee all activities related to hustling skills training at the Centre.

  • Support participants with ad-hoc academic tutoring on subjects such as Math and English, for example for resitting exams and apply to tertiary education. Business Support Coordinate provision of loans services for participants to start/expand a business. Provide ongoing coaching and troubleshooting support for participants’ businesses during and after the programme. Ecosystem Linkages Build and maintain strong relationships with Zambia’s startup ecosystem, including incubators, accelerators, funders, mentors, and relevant government programmes (e.g. CEEC, ZDA, Youth Entrepreneurship programmes). Connect participants to external opportunities for further business coaching, additional funding, incubation, or market access. Monitoring & Evaluation Track participant progress, business idea viability, and early outcomes of incubated ventures. Contribute to overall MEL efforts by collecting success stories and data on entrepreneurship pathways. Collaboration Work closely with other coaches, the ICT trainer, and industry partners to ensure integrated, practical learning experiences. 5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 100% of participants complete the core basic business module with satisfactory progress. Positive participant feedback on training quality and relevance (target >85% satisfaction). Number of viable business plans developed, and loans funded ventures launched. Percentage of incubated participants connected to external opportunities (incubators, funders, mentors). Repayment of loans (target above 90%). Participants supported with quality academic tutoring to meet their goals (target >85% satisfaction). 6. Qualifications & Experience Required: Minimum 5 years of practical entrepreneurship experience (ideally as a founder/co-founder or in a senior role within a Zambian startup/SME). Demonstrated success in starting, growing, or supporting small businesses in Zambia. Strong knowledge of the Zambian startup and incubation ecosystem (incubators, funders, accelerators, and support organisations). Experience designing and delivering entrepreneurship training programmes, preferably for young women or youth. Bachelor’s degree in business, Entrepreneurship, Economics, or a related field ( Master’s is an advantage ). Advantageous: Experience managing seed funding or micro-grants. Background working with women or girls in entrepreneurship programmes. Familiarity with the challenges faced by young female entrepreneurs in Zambia. 7. Skills & Competencies Excellent training and facilitation skills with the ability to engage and inspire young women. Strong business acumen and practical problem-solving ability. Good networking and relationship-building skills within the Zambian entrepreneurial ecosystem. Ability to simplify complex business concepts for beginners. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic digital tools. Fluency in English and at least one local language (Nyanja, Bemba, or Tonga preferred). 8. Personal Attributes Passionate about women’s economic empowerment and entrepreneurship. Patient, approachable, and culturally sensitive. Results-oriented with a hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset.
