Lead Poisoning Prevention Program Overview: To combat lead poisoning in low- and middle-income countries, Vital Strategies is expanding its program through partnerships with government agencies in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The initiative aims to strengthen health systems, build local expertise in childhood lead exposure, and implement cost-effective, evidence-based policies.
Position Summary: The Program Manager will provide technical and epidemiological leadership to reduce lead poisoning in Rwanda, oversee field research, and support the design, implementation, and monitoring of a national blood lead surveillance system. Collaborating with environmental health scientists, epidemiologists, clinicians, public health professionals, and government officials, the role requires expertise in program design, stakeholder engagement, data management, and policy development.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical & Programmatic Support: Lead the development and implementation of the lead poisoning prevention program in collaboration with cross-functional teams; strengthen government and partner capacity through training, technical guidance, and standardized surveillance frameworks; secure ethical approvals; and monitor field surveillance activities. Organize technical discussions, conduct journalist training, and facilitate policy analysis and stakeholder workshops.
Stakeholder Management: Cultivate and maintain partnerships with government agencies, academic institutions, research organizations, and other key stakeholders; serve as Vital Strategies’ primary liaison for high-level engagements.
Data Management: Oversee data collection, quality assurance, and analysis in partnership with epidemiologists; conduct on-site monitoring of surveillance sites; clean, analyze, and interpret surveillance data to inform
