Our expansion includes carbon-financed bamboo farms across Nicaragua, South Africa, Ghana, Rwanda, and the Philippines, where our projects address three critical global challenges: climate change mitigation, restoration of degraded landscapes, and providing sustainable alternatives to deforestation-linked consumer goods. In Rwanda, our initiatives safeguard watersheds through riparian plantings and expand vital habitats for endangered mountain gorillas. We are seeking a seasoned Operations Manager to oversee the execution of Eco Planet Bamboo’s Annual Planting and Operations Plan across Rwanda’s districts. This hands-on leadership role demands operational rigor, frequent field engagement, and rigorous application of the POLE management framework (Planning, Organizing, Leading, Controlling) to uphold productivity, quality, safety, and compliance standards. Based in Kigali, the position requires at least three days per week in the field, spanning all 13 districts, along with daily morning check-ins with supervisors. Responsibilities include managing three supervisors overseeing 31 technicians, collaborating with nursery teams, and liaising with corporate support functions. Key Responsibilities: – Operational Planning & Execution: Translate the Annual Planting & Operations Plan into actionable daily, weekly, and monthly schedules; develop and distribute clear work plans with defined targets; ensure timely availability of resources, including tools, plants, fertilizers, water, equipment, and vehicles; set and enforce productivity and quality benchmarks; optimize labor allocation across staff, seasonal workers, and contractors; and oversee nursery operations to meet contract performance standards for plant quality and delivery timelines. – Field Management, Quality Control & Compliance: Maintain a strong on-site presence to enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), silvicultural, environmental, and FSC standards; conduct systematic, randomized audits at the compartment level; review district-wide performance weekly and implement corrective measures; and enforce accountability for non-compliance, quality deficiencies, or safety violations. – SOP Ownership & Continuous Improvement: Embed SOPs into daily field operations; lead SOP refinement cycles based on AUD
