Human Resources (HR) and Finance Managers provide sound administrative management for projects, oversee personnel records, and participate in the hiring, training, and supervision of local staff. They are responsible for implementing HR policies and ensuring effective management of all employees, including national, regional, and international staff. They also coordinate and supervise financial tools and procedures, ensuring the appropriate use of resources in line with MSF protocols, standards, and procedures.

Expert Application Advice

Even when your resume matches Excel, tailor your cover letter to Médecins Sans Frontières's culture. Mention one specific project or value they champion, connecting it to your own experience in financial strategy. This shows genuine interest, not just a generic application.

International NGO — NGO recruiters read your cover letter to assess your understanding of the humanitarian mission, not just technical skills. Show you know the country field context and the specific challenges of this sector.

Key figures — Budgets managed, cost savings achieved, audits closed on time: prepare 3 precise financial achievements with amounts. African CFOs often test IFRS or local GAAP knowledge — be ready with specific examples.

  • Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
  • Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
  • Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
  • Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
  • Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
  • A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
