Tax & Audit Associate

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Tax & Audit Associate to join our team. This is a full-time position based in Kenya.

Job Field: Finance / Accounting / Audit

The ideal candidate should have practical experience with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) iTax system, VAT filing, income tax, and audit processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and file VAT returns through the KRA iTax system.

Prepare and file corporate income tax returns while ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

Reconcile tax accounts and resolve tax-related queries.

Maintain accurate tax records and supporting documentation.

Support internal and external audit assignments.

Prepare audit schedules and provide the required documentation to auditors.

Ensure compliance with Kenyan tax laws and statutory filing deadlines.

Assist in tax planning and the implementation of tax compliance strategies.

Liaise with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and other regulatory authorities when required.

Profile:

Monitor changes in tax legislation and advise management on compliance requirements.

Assist in preparing financial reports and reconciliations where required.

Responsibilities:

Perform other finance and accounting duties assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.

Minimum of 2 years' hands-on experience in taxation and audit.

Practical experience using the KRA iTax system.

Proven experience in VAT filing, income tax preparation and filing, and tax compliance.

Experience supporting or participating in internal and external audits.

CPA Part II qualification or actively progressing towards CPA completion.

Strong understanding of Kenyan tax laws and accounting principles.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

Ability to work independently and meet strict statutory deadlines.

Experience working in a busy accounting firm or corporate finance department.
