We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:

Lecturer, Counselling Psychology - School of Social Sciences

Job Type: Full Time

Qualification: BA/BSc/HND, MBA/MSc/MA, PhD/Fellowship

Job Field: Education / Teaching / Training

Education, Skills & Experience. Must have:

PhD in Counselling Psychology or an equivalent qualification from a recognized academic institution.

Master's degree in Counselling Psychology or an equivalent qualification from a recognized academic institution.

Bachelor of Arts in Counselling Psychology or an equivalent qualification from a recognized academic institution.

At least three (3) years of teaching experience in a recognized Academic Institution.

Key responsibilities also include:

Reporting to the Head, Department of Psychology, Languages & Humanities.

Duties and responsibilities:

Participate in curriculum development and review.

Prepare a course outline to guide the effective delivery and coverage of the syllabus.

Develop learning content to ensure adequate coverage of the course outline.

Teach Undergraduate, Diploma, and Certificate courses.

Set, invigilate, and administer examinations to test the understanding of course content and give a progressive report to the Department.

Supervise students' projects and attend defence meetings to enable them to complete their studies successfully.

Carry out research, prepare publications, and participate in conferences to disseminate knowledge generated.

Attract funding to the University to support research.

Facilitate field studies and assess students during attachments/trips/internships.

Participate in official University meetings and functions.

Monitor class attendance sheets to ensure that students sitting for the examinations meet the required lecture attendance of more than four-fifths of all lectures before they can sit for their examinations.

Carry out administrative and other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Lecturer, Mathematics - Mombasa Campus

Job Type: Full Time

Qualification: BA/BSc/HND, MBA/MSc/MA, PhD/Fellowship

Experience: 3 years

Location: Mombasa

Job Field: Education / Teaching / Training

Education, Skills & Experience. Must have:

PhD in Mathematics or an equivalent qualification from a recognized academic institution.

Master's degree in Mathematics or an equivalent qualification from a recognized academic institution.

Bachelor of Education (Mathematics) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized academic institution.

At least three (3) years of teaching experience in a recognized Academic Institution.

Key responsibilities also include:

Reporting to the Deputy Director, Academic & Research Affairs (DD-ARA)

Duties and responsibilities:

Participate in curriculum development and review.

Prepare a course outline to guide the effective delivery and coverage of the syllabus.

Develop learning content to ensure adequate coverage of the course outline.

Teach Undergraduate, Diploma, and Certificate courses.

Set, invigilate, and administer examinations to test the understanding of course content and give a progressive report to the Department.

Education, Skills & Experience. Must have:

PhD in relevant area of Specialization from a recognized academic institution.

At least three (3) years of teaching experience in a recognized Academic Institution.

Be registered and licensed by the Nursing Council of Kenya

Master's degree in relevant discipline (for special cases outlined on MKU teaching staff appointments and promotions guidelines, 2020) with 3 years teaching/industry/research experience;

Expected to have registered for a PhD degree in the relevant discipline.

At least three (3) years teaching experience in a recognized Academic Institution;

Be registered and licensed by the Nursing Council of Kenya

Key responsibilities also include:

Reporting to the Dean, School of Nursing

Duties and responsibilities:

Participate in curriculum development and review.

Prepare a course outline to guide the effective delivery and coverage of the syllabus.

Masters of Medicine in Physiology from a recognized academic institution.

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)

At least three years teaching and research experience in a recognized Academic Institution.

Relevant Work experience in Industry

Registered and licensed to practice by the Relevant Professional Body.

An earned PhD degree qualification in the relevant area from a recognized/accredited university OR being registered/registrable for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree qualification will be an added advantage.

PhD in relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.

At least 3 years' experience at Grade 12 within MKU or in a similar position in a recognized academic institution.

Be registered with, and be active members of professional associations in his/her profession where applicable;

Master's Degree in a relevant area of specialization from recognized academic institution.

At least 5 years' experience at Grade 12 within MKU or in a similar position in a recognized academic institution.

Be registered with, and be active members of professional associations in his/her profession where applicable;

Key responsibilities also include:

Reporting to: Principal, Students Welfare

Duties and responsibilities:

Overseeing implementation of regulations, policies and procedures that apply to student non-academic matters.

Coordination of all matters related to student welfare

Advice Senate on matters related to the Student Welfare.

Sensitization of students on available student support systems such as academic advisory, mentorship, guidance and counseling and health care services among others.

Coordination of matters related to student co-curricular activities such as sports, games, drama, music, community outreach programmes, etc.

Promotion of inter-campus / University games and sports and ensure high performance and good conduct.

Promotion of student discipline and serving as a liaison person between the university and law courts and security agency in matters related to discipline.

Creation of clear channels of communication with students with the aim of promoting dialogue and solving student issues.

Offering guidance and direction and in enforcing provisions set out in the Mount Kenya University Student Association (MKUSA) constitution

Serving as signatory to the Student's Welfare Accounts.

Ensuring that students get fair medical attention from the University dispensary and monitor any referral cases.

Ensuring that students get proper Catering and Accommodation Services and, in this respect, liaise closely with the Manager of Central Catering and Accommodation Services

Preparation of budgets and work plans relating to student welfare activities and supervise their implementation.

Serving as the Returning Officer during the Students Council elections and ensure fair elections and peaceful campaigns.

Holding consultative meetings with members of student governing council, class representatives and chairpersons and patrons of clubs and societies in order to promote dialogue and student cohesion.

Guiding and encouraging the students to form and develop professional and social clubs and societies and shall in that regard provide the necessary administrative support to clubs and societies as well as promote and market the same activities within and outside the University.

Occasionally meet chairmen and patrons of various clubs and societies in order to promote dialogue and harmonization of Students Welfare Activities.

Register and keep records of all student clubs and societies in the University.

Organizing meetings with Deans of Schools and other relevant members of staff in order to address issues emanating from the student's council.

Provision of Secretariat service to the students.

Formulation, implementation and periodic review of a strategic plan on student welfare.

Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the management.

Student Recruitment Officer

Job Type: Full Time

Qualification: BA/BSc/HND

Job Field: Marketing and Communication

Education, Skills and Experience. Must have:

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing/Public relations/Communication or in any other related area of specialization.

Minimum Three (3) years' experience in a comparable position or in Grade 9 in MKU.

Higher National Diploma in a Marketing/Public relations/Communication or in any other related area of specialization or a professional qualification.

Five (5) years' experience in a comparable position or in Grade 9 in MKU.

Key responsibilities also include:

Reporting to: Deputy Director, Finance, Administration & Marketing

Duties and responsibilities:

Represent MKU in targeting visits to potential clients to speak to individuals and groups to promote outreach activities

Develop, coordinate and deliver outreach programs and marketing strategies, arranges visits and tours for prospective students and parents
