Senior Infrastructure Design Engineer

Job Scope: The Civil Engineer will oversee the comprehensive planning, coordination, technical supervision, and quality assurance of construction projects. This role encompasses both technical execution and managerial oversight throughout the project lifecycle. Job Description You will be responsible for directing and coordinating day-to-day construction operations, maintaining strict adherence to design requirements, safety protocols, and project schedules. Translate architectural and engineering drawings into actionable directives, ensuring site teams receive unambiguous guidance for precise implementation. Perform surveying activities, including leveling, marking, and setting out to define reference points, elevations, and alignments. Oversee on-site labor and contractor activities, providing technical direction and addressing any challenges that arise during operations. Ensure that materials and workmanship meet established quality standards by rigorously enforcing compliance with applicable building codes and safety regulations. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and surveyors to synchronize on-site operations with the project’s strategic goals. Prepare and maintain accurate site documentation, encompassing daily progress reports, material consumption records, and labor allocation details. Assist with the development of Bills of Quantities (BOQ’s), preparation of cost estimates, and verification of quantities throughout the construction phase. Perform thorough inspections and quality assessments on foundations, concrete, steel, and other critical structural components to ensure compliance with established standards and specifications. Maintain a clean, organized site while adhering to all environmental regulations and standards. Technical support must be provided during material testing procedures, including soil, concrete, blocks, asphalt, and steel. Regularly provide management with updates on project progress, highlighting any challenges encountered and resource requirements. 13. Conduct thorough examinations of designs to confirm that construction activities align precisely with the approved drawings. Offer valuable technical expertise in structural design, land compaction analysis, block testing procedures, and other pertinent engineering considerations. Evaluate the structural integrity and appropriateness of foundations and building materials by conducting thorough testing procedures. Project planning involves developing detailed schedules and strategies based on comprehensive reviews of drawings, blueprints, survey reports, maps, and geotechnical and topographical data. To accurately project costs, conduct thorough assessments of materials, equipment, and labor needs. Monitor project milestones diligently and provide periodic progress updates to senior leadership to ensure transparency and alignment with organizational objectives. Conduct thorough evaluations of finished structures and propose necessary repairs or maintenance measures as indicated. Assist with any other tasks or responsibilities as delegated to ensure the successful completion of projects. Qualifications and Experience Earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. All academic credentials must be authenticated by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZARA). A valid registration as a fully paid-up member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (LIZ) is required. Holding a current and valid practicing license is a mandatory requirement for this role. With a minimum of five to seven years of hands-on experience in construction projects, candidates should possess a solid background in the field. Key Performance Area

Proficient in diagnosing, evaluating, and resolving intricate engineering challenges with a methodical and analytical approach. 6. Strong proficiency in both verbal and written communication is essential to facilitate seamless collaboration and ensure accurate reporting. Capable of integrating innovative approaches with structured analytical processes to effectively execute projects.
