Tera Fleet Management Limited is actively seeking a skilled and experienced Operations Supervisor to fill a key role within our expanding Operations Department. POSITION: Operations Supervisor (X1) DEPARTMENT: Operations LOCATION: Ndola JOB PURPOSE To provide leadership and direction for daily fleet operations by effectively supervising staff and drivers. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities include overseeing and managing the day-to-day transport and fleet operations to ensure efficiency and compliance with established standards. Monitor truck movements, track dispatch schedules, ensure timely deliveries, and verify efficient turnaround times. Supervise a team comprising drivers, driver assistants, and other operational personnel to ensure adherence to company policies and performance standards. Ensure all trucks are equipped with current and necessary documentation prior to dispatch. Monitor driver compliance with established company protocols, track their performance metrics, and ensure adherence to attendance and disciplinary standards. Collaborate with Fleet Managers to ensure optimal truck availability by addressing maintenance needs, breakdowns, and other operational requirements. The incumbent will be responsible for tracking fuel consumption, managing trip-related expenditures, and overseeing driver funds. Ensure all trip-related documentation, including Proof of Delivery (POD’s), expense vouchers, and required reports, is accurately completed and submitted in a timely manner. Address operational issues as they arise, ensuring swift and effective resolution to maintain workflow efficiency. Maintain open and professional communication channels with clients and relevant stakeholders at all times. Ensure adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), alongside all applicable safety protocols and transport regulations. Your responsibilities will include the generation and compilation of operational reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE A relevant qualification in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline is required. Requires a minimum of two to three years of hands-on experience in transport, logistics, or fleet operations. Experienced in leading driver and operational teams effectively. Proficiency in fleet operations management and transport documentation is required. A background in international logistics or cross-border transportation is considered a valuable asset. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Applicants are required to be domiciled in Ndola, Kitwe, or the broader Copper belt region. Membership in the Zambia Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (BUILT) is considered a valuable asset. Proficient in utilizing computer systems, with a particular emphasis on Microsoft Excel and Word. 4. Exceptional ability to lead teams and convey ideas effectively, coupled with outstanding interpersonal and verbal communication capabilities. Demonstrated aptitude for meticulous planning and effective coordination is essential. Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing complex situations, evaluating potential solutions, and making informed decisions to resolve issues effectively. Capable of maintaining productivity and performance standards while adhering to strict deadlines and operating under high-pressure conditions. Maintaining a high standard of integrity, accountability, and meticulous attention to detail is essential. The capacity to lead and inspire a team effectively is essential.
