Aachen International Supply Chain Limited is currently seeking a highly skilled Hydroelectric Project Manager to strengthen our Construction Department’s team. POSITION: Hydroelectric Project Manager (X1) DEPARTMENT: Construction LOCATION: Ndola, Sakania JOB PURPOSE The primary responsibility of this role involves overseeing the company’s water and electricity construction, maintenance, and repair projects. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee the company’s water and electricity systems throughout project execution and promptly address any equipment faults through emergency maintenance. Responsible for supporting Chinese engineers in the planning and budgeting phases of the company’s new water and electricity projects, as well as renovation initiatives. Responsible for supporting Chinese engineers in securing approvals from relevant local authorities—including TESCO, WARM, and Local Water Utilities—for both new and renovation initiatives in water and electricity projects. Assist Chinese engineers with the preparation of annual electricity consumption plans as well as the associated consumables approval plans. Provide support to Chinese engineers to ensure full compliance with applicable Zambian water and electricity construction regulations. Successfully oversee and execute the company’s active hydropower construction projects with autonomy. Oversee the daily delegation of tasks to assistant engineers while ensuring rigorous project supervision, meticulous error correction, and adherence to established deadlines. You will oversee the development and enhancement of technical competencies for local hydropower construction teams through targeted skill training initiatives. Assist Chinese engineers by coordinating and overseeing the follow-up and management processes for the proposed 320kWp photovoltaic project. JOB REQUIREMENTS Skilled in performing maintenance and installation tasks related to water and electrical systems is required. You must demonstrate a keen awareness of safety protocols in operations and the capability to proactively recognize and assess potential equipment hazards. Proficient experience in repairing switch circuits and the capacity to effectively manage unexpected breakdowns or malfunctions are essential requirements for this position. Individuals applying for this position must demonstrate a robust sense of accountability, exceptional collaboration abilities, strong leadership capabilities, and the resilience to overcome challenges effectively. Applicants should possess a solid understanding of the fundamental maintenance, repair, safe operation, and troubleshooting procedures for generators, photovoltaic systems, water heaters, transformers, water pumps, and other related equipment. Acquainted with diverse facets of construction methodologies and regulatory benchmarks pertinent to photovoltaic substation assembly. Candidates must demonstrate a strong capacity for learning, rapidly mastering new processes and construction standards. They should also possess the ability to self-assess their work performance and identify areas for improvement, while maintaining a proactive and optimistic approach to tasks. Proficient in autonomously designing construction plans for hydropower projects, with comprehensive knowledge of hydropower materials and a deep understanding of Zambia’s local material market, enabling the formulation of cost-effective and economically viable plans. Revised: Possesses comprehensive knowledge of the sequential phases, key components, and applicable industry standards involved in hydropower construction projects. Capable of designing a practical skill training curriculum and executing it efficiently, tailored to the competency levels and professional mindset of current hydropower construction team members. Able to formulate practical management strategies by leveraging the existing local workforce and efficiently allocate available tasks. QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER PREFERENCES Holders of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline are required. With a minimum of ten years of professional experience, including at least six years in leadership roles overseeing construction, installation, and maintenance initiatives for water and electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Experienced candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of overseeing and successfully concluding a minimum of five (5) hydropower construction projects, while also leading a team comprising at least thirty (30) members. Professionals must demonstrate proficiency in fundamental computer software applications, including the Microsoft Office Suite, CAD water systems, and the ability to analyze electrical construction drawings and schematics accurately. Familiarity with material suppliers, along with established connections to pertinent Power and Water authorities, is essential. Professional Rewriting: A minimum of six years of hands-on experience is required in the construction, installation, maintenance, and management of water and electricity systems. A requirement for this position is active paid membership in the Engineering Institute of Zambia. Open to relocating to the company premises or any assigned construction site for the duration of assigned projects. Individuals must either reside in Ndola or be open to relocating there.
