About One Acre Fund

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across nine countries that together are home to two-thirds of Africa's farmers, we provide high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of other agricultural services. On average, this model enables any farmer to increase their income and assets on supported land by more than 35 percent, while permanently improving their resilience. This is all made possible by our team of 9,000+ full-time staff, drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. To learn more, please see our Why Work Here blog post. Our Kenya program, founded in 2006, operates under the local brand Tupande. Close to 500 staff in our Kakamega headquarters support 1,747 field staff and serve more than 1 million farmers. In Nairobi, around 50 staff support global functions like procurement, recruitment, government relations, and communications.

About the Role

Seeking a strategic government relations professional with 3+ years of experience to help shape Tupande’s policy, regulatory, and stakeholder engagement strategy across Kenya while managing high-impact public sector partnerships and operational risk.

Responsibilities

Strategic Execution & Analytical Support Monitor and track policy and regulatory developments affecting agriculture and agro-processing, synthesizing insights to inform leadership decision-making. Prepare high-quality briefings, policy analyses, and key talking points to support the Unit and department lead ahead of external engagements and strategic forums.

Stakeholder Mapping & Coordination Build, track, and update stakeholder maps to leverage strategic relationships across government bodies, regulators, and the private sector. Cultivate and maintain active networks across national government ministries and private sector associations to support and advocate for Tupande's policy goals. Support the unit lead in representing Tupande at key forums to help position the organization as a leading voice on agricultural policy. Organize logistics and facilitate occasional field events or consultative meetings to increase organizational fluency among government and private sector players.

Advocacy Projects Execution Coordinate and execute specific day-to-day project tasks that aim to improve the operating environment for smallholder farmers on a national or regional level. Actively build rapid fluency across public sector interest areas, including seed and fertilizer regulations, extension services, value addition, and trade to better support advocacy needs.
