Job Overview

The Market Access Manager will lead the development and execution of market access strategies for Pfizer’s portfolio of products in Rwanda. This role involves close collaboration with cross‑functional teams, government agencies, payers, and key opinion leaders to navigate regulatory pathways, pricing negotiations, and health technology assessments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our medicines are accessible, affordable, and aligned with national health priorities. The position reports to the Regional Market Access Director and plays a pivotal role in shaping Pfizer’s commercial success in the Rwandan market. Key objectives include building strong relationships with the Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority (RFDA), Ministry of Health, and insurance providers, while delivering data‑driven insights that support evidence‑based decision making. This role is central to Pfizer’s mission of delivering innovative health solutions and contributes directly to the broader goal of improving healthcare access in Rwanda.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement comprehensive market access strategies for assigned product portfolio. Engage with government bodies, payers, and healthcare providers to negotiate pricing, reimbursement, and formulary inclusion. Conduct health economic and outcomes research to support value propositions. Collaborate with regulatory affairs to ensure compliance with local guidelines and submission requirements. Monitor and analyze policy changes, market trends, and competitive landscape. Prepare and present dossiers for health technology assessments and reimbursement submissions. Lead cross‑functional projects with sales, medical affairs, and commercial teams. Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on market access processes. Report on key performance indicators and market access metrics to senior leadership.

Required Skills

Strong understanding of Rwanda’s healthcare system, reimbursement mechanisms, and regulatory environment. Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management abilities. Proficiency in health economics, pharmacoeconomics, and outcomes research. Analytical mindset with ability to interpret complex data sets. Effective communication and presentation skills in English and Kinyarwanda. Project management experience with ability to meet deadlines. Strategic thinking and problem‑solving capabilities.

Education

A Master’s degree in Health Economics, Business Administration, Pharmacy, Public Health, or a related field is required. Advanced certifications in market access, health technology assessment, or pharmacoeconomics are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of five years of experience in market access, health economics, pricing, or related roles within the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in East Africa. Demonstrated success in leading market access initiatives and managing multi‑stakeholder relationships is essential.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 1,500,000 to SSP 2,500,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
