About the Role
The ESG & MEL Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that all workshop operations and project activities adhere to EU environmental, social, and governance standards, as well as fulfilling reporting obligations. Additionally, the role involves monitoring and evaluating measurable production and development outcomes. This position integrates industrial operations, regulatory compliance, sustainability initiatives, and donor reporting, serving as a pivotal link between these key functions.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure adherence to environmental regulations concerning waste management, emissions control, energy consumption, and chemical handling procedures. Ensure adherence to workshop safety standards, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), adherence to Lockout/Ragout (LOT) procedures, and the implementation of machine guarding protocols. Monitor and report progress towards achieving gender and youth employment objectives. Oversee the upkeep and functionality of systems designed for tracking indicators within the EU Log frame framework. Compose quarterly and annual narrative reports detailing donor contributions and impact. Provide assistance to European Union (EU) audit and Results-Oriented Monitoring (ROM) missions. Maintain comprehensive risk registers and sustainability plans to ensure proactive risk management and alignment with organizational objectives. Verify the accuracy and integrity of production outputs associated with machinery funded by the European Union.
What We’re Looking For
Holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Management, Project Management, or a closely related discipline are encouraged to apply. With a proven track record spanning two to six years in manufacturing, engineering, ESG compliance, or M&E, the ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience to the role. Demonstrates a comprehensive grasp of industrial safety protocols and environmental regulations. Proficiency in Logical Framework Approach (Log frame) and Results-Based Management (RBM) methodologies is expected. Proficient in Excel and data reporting, with demonstrated expertise in leveraging these tools to analyze and present data effectively. High ethical standards and meticulous attention to detail are essential for this role. Having prior involvement in projects funded by the European Union is highly beneficial.
