Medical Officer The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the provision of holistic healthcare services to personnel at the cement production facility located in Mara, Tanzania. The Medical Officer will oversee the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of occupational and general health conditions among employees, ensuring their well-being and safety. Additionally, the position entails promoting workplace wellness initiatives and maintaining strict adherence to applicable regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will collaborate extensively with nursing professionals, safety specialists, healthcare personnel, and leadership to promote employee well-being and sustain robust medical services in the facility. Duties and Responsibilities The Medical Officer will perform a range of essential duties, including evaluating and managing patient care, overseeing treatment plans, and ensuring adherence to medical protocols. They will conduct thorough examinations, diagnose conditions, and prescribe appropriate therapies while maintaining accurate and confidential medical records. Additionally, the Medical Officer will collaborate with healthcare teams to coordinate treatment strategies, provide guidance on best practices, and contribute to public health initiatives. Strong clinical expertise, effective communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care are vital for success in this role. Collaborate effectively with nursing professionals and other healthcare team members to guarantee patients receive outstanding medical care. Perform comprehensive medical evaluations, diagnostic procedures, and health screenings to assess injuries, illnesses, and workplace-related conditions. Evaluate symptoms and determine suitable treatment plans to accurately diagnose health conditions. Prescribe medications as required and facilitate patient referrals to specialized medical practitioners when needed. Deliver prompt and proficient emergency medical treatment in response to workplace accidents and injuries, ensuring timely and effective care for affected individuals. Promote customized preventive healthcare and wellness initiatives specifically designed for industrial workforce populations to enhance their overall health and productivity. Maintain comprehensive and current medical records, encompassing patient evaluations, treatment plans, diagnostic test results, and prescribed medications. Prescribe medications while ensuring full adherence to all applicable state and federal regulatory requirements. Inform patients of potential medication risks, possible complications, and drug interactions to ensure they are fully aware of their treatment plan. Oversee the performance of medical assistants and nursing staff, assessing their adherence to regulatory standards and the efficacy of care initiatives. Provide patients with comprehensive guidance on nutrition, physical activity, personal hygiene, and lifestyle modifications to foster sustained health benefits. Monitor and oversee healthcare risks pertinent to cement production, with a focus on respiratory conditions, musculoskeletal disorders, chemical exposure, and other occupational health hazards.
- Provide immediate care during workplace accidents.
- Coordinate evacuation when necessary. Collaborate with external healthcare facilities to facilitate urgent patient transfers and access to advanced medical care.
Maintain adherence to occupational health and safety regulations and standards. Design and execute health promotion initiatives and employee wellness programs to foster a culture of well-being within the organization. Academic Qualifications, Experience, and Competence Applicants should meet the following requirements: A recognized institution must have awarded an MBBS or equivalent medical degree. Hold a current, unrestricted medical license issued by the Tanzania Medical Council. Professional certification or specialized training in occupational health would be considered a valuable asset.
