This one-year fixed-term role falls under the Plant & Machine/Operations Department, with the successful candidates reporting to the Earthworks Foreman or Site Manager.
The primary responsibility involves the safe and efficient operation of a TLB truck to transport materials such as sand, quarry products, soil, and debris while strictly adhering to road safety regulations and company protocols. This includes conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections—checking brakes, tires, oil, lights, fuel, and other critical components—to ensure operational readiness. Additionally, the role requires coordinating with site personnel to load and offload materials, maintaining precise records of deliveries, fuel consumption, and mileage, and upholding all traffic laws and occupational health and safety standards.
Candidates must possess a Malawi School Certificate of Education or equivalent, a valid Malawian driver’s licence (Class C or G for heavy-duty vehicles), and a minimum of two to five years of proven experience operating tipper trucks or similar heavy vehicles. A clean driving record, free of serious traffic violations, is essential, along with the ability to follow instructions from supervisors and dispatch teams. The position also entails keeping the vehicle clean and ensuring timely servicing, reporting any accidents, breakdowns, or mechanical faults immediately, and performing any other duties as assigned by management.
