Software Engineer
New York University - Center for Technology and Economic Development (CTED) is recruiting a committed and highly motivated Software Engineer, capable of working independently and effectively in a professional environment. We are looking for a problem solver and a strategic and creative thinker to join a multicultural and interdisciplinary research team. The Software Engineer will report directly to the Principal Investigator (PI) / Center Director, Professor Yaw Nyarko (NYU).

CTED is a research center at New York University (NYU) that focuses on developing innovative and cutting-edge technologies that can have a significant impact on economic development, with a particular emphasis on problems encountered in underdeveloped areas around the world. CTED has branches in Abu Dhabi, New York, Germany, Accra, and Kumawu in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. CTED houses several research projects, including: Economic Governance, Mapping and Land Administration; Agricultural Commodity Trading; Mobile App and Blockchain Development; and Cultural Heritage Projects. Responsibilities
Design and development of software architectures; Development, deployment, and maintenance of web applications, iOS and Android applications; Assistance to the Center Director in his Ghana-based research related to mobile applications, blockchain, and technology.
Desired Profile
Required degree. At least 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer. Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Go, Javascript, Solidity. Familiarity with blockchain systems. Experience with AWS (ElasticBeanstalk, Fargate, EC2, S3, Route 53). Experience with Docker for containerization. Experience setting up CI/CD with AWS Codepipeline. Experience designing and building distributed communication systems using REST APIs and/or gRPC. Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL. Experience with Flutter development. Experience building production-level applications with Golang, NodeJS, and Solidity. Experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying Solidity smart contracts in Ethereum-based environments. Willingness to relocate to work at CTED's research center in Kumawu (Ashanti), if necessary. Familiarity with Matlab, Python, and Stata.
