The Protection Officer at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) is responsible for overseeing the implementation of protection interventions, including gender-based violence (GBV), protection of returnees, and child protection in response to humanitarian crises. This role involves collaborating with local partners to ensure equitable access to protection services for vulnerable populations. The officer will also establish local relationships to facilitate community acceptance of interventions and ensure adherence to protection principles. The position is based in Mamfe, Cameroon, and requires a high level of dedication due to the security context. Bachelor's degree in social sciences or relevant fields 3 years of experience in humanitarian field or NGOs 3 years of experience in protection sector (GBV, child protection) Training in child protection and GBV case management Strong partner management and supervision skills Planning, organizational, and communication skills Experience in community awareness and mobilization Capacity building/training organization experience Knowledge of local languages Good communication skills Attention to detail Ability to work in volatile environments Fluency in English; French is a plus
