Expert Application Advice
What this role involves
You will craft and execute communication strategies to raise awareness about Ghana’s artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) sector, promoting mercury-free, sustainable practices. Day-to-day work includes producing content (reports, social media posts, press releases), coordinating with local stakeholders (mining communities, government, NGOs), and monitoring campaign impact across digital and traditional media channels.
Key skills to highlight
Demonstrate expertise in strategic communication for development or environmental projects, especially in Ghana’s mining or rural contexts. Show fluency in multimedia content creation (video, infographics, photography) and data-driven reporting. Stakeholder engagement with diverse groups—from miners to policymakers—is critical, as is knowledge of ASGM issues or the Minamata Convention.
Taf4All CV tip
In your CV’s “Experience” section, lead with a concrete example: e.g., “Developed a community radio campaign for an environmental project in the Western Region, reaching 50,000+ small-scale miners.” Use metrics (reach, engagement, behavior change) to prove impact. Avoid generic “communication” duties—link each role to sustainability or mining.
Before you apply
Verify the posting on UNDP’s official Ghana careers page or LinkedIn. UNDP never charges fees for applications. Confirm the recruiter’s email ends with @undp.org. If asked for payment or personal bank details, report it immediately.

- •Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
- •Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
- •Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
- •Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
- •Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
- •A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
