Hopper Operator Job Description: Hopper Operator Department: Operations Location: Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc Job Type: Full-Time Job Summary The Hopper Operator is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the Sugar Ship Discharge Hoppers at the seaside, ensuring efficient and uninterrupted flow of sugar during vessel discharge. The role involves equipment monitoring, routine maintenance of Robson machinery, and ensuring cleanliness of work areas, including the drag‑out pit. Key Duties & Responsibilities Operate sugar ship discharge hoppers safely and efficiently during vessel unloading activities. Carry out daily operation and monitoring of all assigned sugar hoppers. Perform daily removal and cleaning of spillage sugar from the drag‑out pit to maintain a clean working environment. Conduct routine checks and maintenance of Robson equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance. Report any equipment malfunction, abnormal noise, or operational issues to the supervisor promptly. Ensure compliance with HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards during all operations. Participate in preventive maintenance plans as scheduled by the Maintenance/Engineering team. Support operational activities to ensure smooth sugar flow from discharge point to storage/processing areas. Competencies Required (Qualification & Experience) Minimum of O‑Level qualification (WAEC/GCE certificate). Minimum of 1–2 years experience in industrial operations, manufacturing, or similar field (experience with sugar or bulk material handling is an advantage). Basic understanding of mechanical equipment operations. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, industrial environment. Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions. Strong attention to safety and equipment handling procedures. Skills & Attributes Physically fit and able to handle manual tasks. Team player with a positive attitude. Good problem‑solving skills. Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
