Head, Securities - EDC Cameroon Cameroon Job Description.

JOB PURPOSE

  • Implement the strategy of retail to wholesale clients.

  • Sign new wholesale clients.

  • Increase the value of trades.

  • Working with Head, SIS, execute a plan to sign international clients.

  • Ensure the IT systems are in line with strategy.

  • Ensure the business is structured in line with the approved strategy.

  • Ensure research is provided in line with the requirements of the clients.

  • Grow revenue and profitability of the business.

  • Provide leadership and support to the division staff in order to sustainably grow the business through learning, enhancing capabilities and coaching.

  • Grow the business by developing a strong customer-centric culture aiming at achieving high levels of customer satisfaction and product penetration.

JOB CONTEXT

This role reports directly to the Head, Securities and Investor Services and to MD of EIC for administrative matters.  He/she should have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a similar organization a substantial number of which should have been in a similar role. Must be self-driven with a strong work ethics and be a self-motivated professional.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The core areas of focus will include but not limited to:

  • To achieve revenue: Direct Franchise Development. 

  • To take initiatives for building brand in the locality.

  • To Elaborate marketing strategies to develop existing portfolio and new opportunities.

  • To achieve brokerage productivity per client (Instructional)

  • To leverage the domestic Bank in delivering services to the retail customer

  • To ensure communication of group strategy to all 

  • To ensure adherence to all compliance as laid down by Risk and Compliance.

  • To oversee customer service policies and implementation

  • To take initiatives to build employee capability.

  • Develop effective working relationship with senior managers of Ecobank’s target clients. 

  • Build and maintain smooth working relationships with key investors with risk appetite for the African market.

  • Support Head, Securities and Investor Services on business and risk management process

  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, policies and controls.

  • Keep abreast and share knowledge of compliance developments relating to securities.

  • Keep abreast and share knowledge of new investment products, techniques and instruments.

  • Ensure that all portfolios meet compliance guidelines.

  • Train and develop competent junior officers to be able to perform most Senior Officer roles.

EXPERIENCE

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, mathematics, accounting or related field, 

  • Fluent written & spoken (French and English);

  • Relevant professional qualifications also an advantage

  • Extensive experience in a similar role.

  • 10+ years applicable experience in investment / portfolio management, brokerage, finance or equivalent in managing and administering investment portfolios with a high level of customer service 

  • Advanced knowledge of capital markets, economics, and basic investments 

  • Advanced Securities analysis and research skills 

  • Good knowledge of third-party models (Salomon, Bloomberg, Lipper). 

  • Strong PC skills including spreadsheet and word-processing software (Word for Windows, Excel, and Power Point preferred) 

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal

  • Self-starter and able to operate autonomously

  • Maturity (strong work ethics)

  • Highly self-motivated

  • Good team player with the ability to work with colleagues in Ecobank 

  • Excellent English (and French will be an advantage) language skills

  • IT skills – Relevant Software and PC skills

  • Meet the requirements as specified by the Nigeria Stock Exchange Skills, Capabilities & Direct attributes

  • Comfortable with analysis and resourceful with information gathering

  • Cooperative working style and strong communication skills are required, in order to develop and maintain effective working relationships both externally and internally

  • Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadline with high level of accuracy

  • Strong management skills

  • Outgoing and result driven
