The position of General Manager demands a commercially driven executive with deep knowledge of global polymer supply chains, petrochemical pricing dynamics and the specific market realities of Francophone West Africa

.The General Manager oversees all commercial, operational and administrative functions of a polymer trading and distribution company headquartered in Abidjan. Reporting directly to the company CEO, the GM holds full accountability for the P&L and leads the company's strategy to position itself as a preferred supplier of thermoplastic resins and specialty polymers to industrial converters, packaging manufacturers and construction-sector clients across Cote d'Ivoire and the wider ECOWAS market

Key Responsibilitie

Support the implementation of the group polymer sourcing strategy — spot, contract and term deals with global producers (Middle East, Asia, USA) Monitor global polymer price indices and relevant local market conditions and manage price exposure and margin protection Build and grow the customer base: plastic converters, pipe & fitting manufacturers, on packaging companies, construction sect Oversee the full trade cycle: order management, LC/financing, freight, customs clearance at Port d'Abidjan, last-mile delivevery Develop export corridors to Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal, Guinea and other landlocked ECOWAS market Oversee warehousing, inventory management and stock rotation for bulk and bagged polymer Manage import logistics: containerised and bulk shipments, fumigation, port operations and bonded warehouse Lead the P&L, budget cycle, working capital optimisation and credit risk management Negotiate trade finance facilities (LC, SBLC, commodity financing) with local and international bank Ensure compliance with OHADA law, DGI/customs regulations and UEMOA trade Recruit, coach and retain a multidisciplinary team (sales, logistics, finance, technical support Represent the company with government bodies, port authorities (PAA), industry associations and strategic partner

Required Qualification:

Degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Business Administration or related f ield.Minimum 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in a senior role in polymer or petrochemical trading and distribution Knowledge of polymer end-use applications: flexible packaging, rigid containers, pipes, cables, automotive parts Experience providing technical sales support to plastic converters (MFI, density, tensile specifications Familiarity with Port d'Abidjan operations and Ivorian customs procedures (Direction Generale des Douanes Knowledge of OHADA business law and UEMOA trade Solid technical knowledge of thermoplastics: PE (HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE), PP, PVC, PET, PS, ABS and engineering Fluency in French and English — both written and spoken Proven experience in import/export operations and commodity trade finance (LC, BLC documentary collections Prior exposure to Sub-Saharan Africa or Francophone West Africa trading and distribution market
