Junior School Teacher Intern-Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics -STE, Kakuma, Turkana, Dadaab, Kenya Organization: Lutheran World Federation (LWF) Country: Kenya Field location: Kakuma Office: LWF in Kakuma JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Junior School Teacher Intern- Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics - STEM - Kakuma and Kalobeyei Settlement Areas - Turkana West sub- County and Dadaab. Reports to: Heateacher (LWF). Location: Kakuma and Kalobeyei Settlement Areas - Turkana West sub- County and Dadaab. Re-Advert Start Date: 26th May 2026 Re-Advert Closing Date :2nd June 2026 Job Summary The Junior School Teacher-STEM is responsible for implementing and evaluating the STEM curriculum, delivering engaging lessons, and nurturing learners' knowledge, skills, character, and positive attitudes. The role includes supporting teacher development, strengthening community participation, managing classroom resources, and fostering holistic student growth, particularly within a refugee education context. Key Responsibilities Areas: Curriculum Delivery Teach STEM lessons aligned with national standards. Use project-based and hands-on methods to enhance learning. Ensure safe use of labs and technology. Prepare lesson plans, teaching aids, and assess learners for exams. Maintain discipline and provide basic counselling. Teacher Support Train and mentor incentive teachers in modern pedagogy and special needs education. Support production and maintenance of teaching/learning materials. Participate in trainings and teacher learning circles. Community Engagement Support formation of parent groups and participate in PTA activities. Promote girls' education and inclusive, safe school environments. Resource Management Ensure proper use and storage of classroom resources and equipment. Keep accurate inventories of textbooks and materials. Partnerships & Co-Curriculars Collaborate with local schools to share teaching approaches. Organize and support inter-school academic and co-curricular activities. Student Development Prepare learners for post-primary education. Identify and nurture talents, promote confidence and critical thinking. Provide career guidance and counselling. Education Qualifications and Skills: Degree in education with two STEM teaching subject combination (Biology/Chemistry, Mathematics/Chemistry, Physics/Chemistry, Mathematics/Physics etc.) Registered with TSC as a teacher.
