The role involves strengthening child participation mechanisms to ensure diverse voices are heard, particularly from marginalized communities. The consultant will conduct participatory research with children and develop toolkits on child-related issues. This is a remote position for a duration of one month, requiring a strong commitment to child rights and safeguarding. Candidate Requirements: Master's degree in Social Work, Social Science, Law, International Development, or Humanities At least 7 years of relevant work experience Strong understanding of the Child Care and Protection Act and Decentralization Policy Proven experience in conducting participatory research with children Strong English language speaking and writing skills Sample report demonstrating excellent writing skills and toolkit development experience UNICEF and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare (MGECW) has identified the need to strengthen inclusive and meaningful child participation mechanisms in Namibia. Consultations with children have highlighted that formally recognized participation structures such as the Children’s Parliament and Junior Councils do not adequately reflect the diversity of children’s voices, particularly those from rural, marginalized and underserved communities.
