The organization supports programme implementation, project management, and the provision of advisory, technical, and support services across humanitarian, development, public health, educational, and social impact initiatives. Northeast Nigeria is currently facing a growing humanitarian crisis, with large numbers of internally displaced persons (IDPs) requiring emergency assistance. In response, FHI 360 UK-Nigeria is expanding interventions in Borno to support integrated WASH, Health, Nutrition, and Protection programmes. Basic Function: Under the supervision of the Logistics Officer or delegated authority, the Driver will be responsible for transporting FHI 360 staff, consultants, equipment, and programme goods safely and efficiently between offices, guest houses, hotels, airports, hospitals, partner agencies, and warehouses. Duties & Responsibilities Inspect the vehicle before and after daily use to ensure roadworthiness. Verify that all items listed on the vehicle checklist, tools, and inventory are complete and functional when taking over a vehicle. Report vehicle defects or damages immediately. Submit monthly mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance reports to the Head Driver. Ensure all vehicle journeys are properly authorized in advance. Record all movements in the vehicle logbook at the start and completion of each journey. Ensure vehicle documentation, including insurance, remains valid and updated at all times. Keep vehicle keys and documents secure when the vehicle is not in use. Ensure all passengers use seat belts before movement. Drive FHI 360 vehicles within approved speed limits and in compliance with fleet policies. Report all incidents, accidents, and near misses immediately. Ensure the safety and security of passengers at all times. Adhere strictly to organizational security protocols and warnings. Support logistics and warehouse operations when required. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum of SSCE/NECO certificate. Minimum of four (4) years’ experience working as a driver with reputable organizations, including INGOs, corporate organizations, or government institutions. Experience as a mechanic or auto-electrician is an added advantage. Previous experience working in Northeast Nigeria or other relatively insecure environments is desirable. A valid National Driver’s License is mandatory. Excellent verbal communication and listening skills. Ability to communicate effectively in English and Hausa. Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Key Competencies: Strong sense of responsibility and safety awareness. Ability to transport staff, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently. Strong understanding of vehicle visibility and security protocols. Ability to maintain vehicle cleanliness both internally and externally on a daily basis. Ability to diagnose vehicle faults and carry out minor repairs where necessary.
