Read more about this company Instrumentation Workshop Supervisor Job Type Full Time Qualification BA/BSc/HND Experience 4 - 7 years Location Lagos City Apapa Job Field Engineering / Technical  Job Summary The Instrumentation Workshop Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the instrumentation workshop, overseeing the repair, calibration, testing, and maintenance of instrumentation and control equipment used across refinery operations. The role ensures reliability, accuracy, and safety of all instrumentation assets, while coordinating and supervising technicians to meet maintenance targets. Key Duties & Responsibilities Technical & Operational Duties Supervise the calibration, testing, repair, and maintenance of pressure, temperature, level, and flow instruments. Oversee troubleshooting activities for faulty sensors, transmitters, switches, control valves, actuators, and automation devices. Ensure proper use and maintenance of workshop tools such as multimeters, loop calibrators, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and HART communicators. Assign and monitor work orders for all instrumentation maintenance tasks. Review diagnostic findings and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly. Verify the accuracy of calibration results and maintain proper documentation and calibration records. Support maintenance of PLC, SCADA, and DCS field instrumentation by ensuring I/O devices and sensors are in optimal condition. Ensure workshop equipment and tools are kept in good working condition and recalibrated as required. Supervision & Team Management Direct, mentor, and supervise instrumentation technicians and workshop staff. Allocate daily tasks and monitor performance to ensure timely completion of maintenance activities. Conduct on‑the‑job training for technicians on instrument handling, calibration, troubleshooting, and safety. Maintain discipline, teamwork, and safe work practices within the workshop environment. Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping Enforce compliance with safety procedures, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and relevant refinery safety standards. Ensure technicians use PPE and follow proper safety guidelines during repair and calibration. Maintain proper housekeeping in the workshop and ensure safe storage of tools, instruments, and chemicals. Ensure compliance with OEM guidelines, regulatory standards, and internal SOPs for instrumentation maintenance. Reporting & Documentation Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, calibrations, and equipment history. Prepare daily and weekly reports on workshop activities, equipment status, and outstanding tasks. Monitor workshop inventory and report shortages of spare parts or consumables. Recommend improvements or replacements of obsolete tools and instrumentation components. Qualifications & Experience B.Sc./HND in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 4–7 years hands‑on experience in instrumentation/automation maintenance in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Experience supervising technicians or leading small maintenance teams is an added advantage. Strong knowledge of: Transmitters, sensors, switches, analyzers Control valves and actuators PLC/SCADA interfaces Industrial signals (4–20mA, HART, Modbus, etc.) Calibration standards and procedures Proficiency with workshop tools such as loop calibrators, multimeters, HART communicators, oscilloscopes, and signal injectors. Key Competencies & Skills Strong supervisory and team coordination skills. Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic ability. Good knowledge of instrumentation drawings, P&IDs, and control loop diagrams. Strong communication and reporting skills. Safety‑conscious, disciplined, and detail‑oriented. Ability to work under pressure and meet maintenance deadlines. Good computer skills (MS Excel, CMMS, reporting tools).
