Type of Contract: Service Contract  Unit / Division: Finance Unit / WFP Palestine Duty Station:  East Jerusalem  Duration: 12 months  (renewable) The position is only open to nationals or residents with a legal permit/ID to work in East Jerusalem. You are required to fill in all mandatory fields on Workday in English and upload your English CV. Your application would be otherwise disqualified. What will you do in this position?   As our operations continue to expand and the volume of financial transactions increases, the Finance unit is currently facing staffing shortages. This situation has led to an urgent need to recruit for the Finance Assistant position. The new role will be essential in managing the rising number of invoices, processing payments, and financial reporting activities. Filling this position will help ensure that financial operations remain efficient and compliant with organizational standards. WFP provides logistics support to humanitarian and development partners, allowing them to reach more people faster, and at a lower cost to donors and the environment. Under the supervision of the Finance Officer and the Head of Finance Unit, the job holder will: Assist in providing procedural and technical support to staff within the areas of finance and budget, to ensure compliance with WFP financial policies, rules and regulations. Monitor monthly expenditure forecasts and provide expenditure reports in order to facilitate informed decision-making. Monitor the sub-imprest bank and petty cash accounts regularly, to ensure that adequate funds are available and appropriately disbursed. Verify vendor claims, advances and other receivables and observe appropriate procurement procedures, to ensure that suppliers are paid in a timely manner and in conformance with WFP finance rules and regulations. Assist in compiling information from various sources in order to prepare reports relating to budgets, accounting, finance and statistics. Retrieve, format and validate information obtained from various financial information systems and bring any discrepancy or inaccuracy to the attention of the supervisor and follow up corrective actions. Perform administrative duties related to the monitoring and recording of fixed assets, spend on fuel and spare parts for vehicles and generators, to ensure that the databases are accurately updated. Maintain the web-based register for all invoices and payment transfers and record paperwork, to ensure that all documents are maintained and filed in compliance with WFP standards and guidelines. Monitor and record all expenses in line with the approved budget in order to ensure that correct expenditure costs are charged and payments to external suppliers, cash grants and other supplier invoices are processed in a timely manner. Responsible for all the invoices in the Invoice Tracking System.

EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:**

EDUCATION : Completion of secondary school education . Bachelor's degree in finance , Accounting or Business Administration is desirable .

EXPERIENCE

: A minimum of five years of experience in the in Finance, Accounting, or Audit.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in accounting and budgeting. Ability to interpret and analyse financial data and generate reports. Good organisational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in using financial management systems and Excel for data analysis. Experience in emergency preparedness and response. LANGUAGES: Fluency (level C) in English and Arabic languages.
