Role summary
The Graphic Designer will work closely with the communications and operations teams to produce compelling visual content that supports the organisation’s mission, campaigns, and online presence. The ideal candidate has some experience in basic graphic design and a passion for using visual storytelling to drive impact. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute creatively while developing your design skills in a purpose-driven environment.
Key responsibilities
A. Visual content creation
Design graphics for social media posts, banners, flyers, and campaign materials that align with the organisation’s brand and voice.
Create visually appealing templates for recurring content (e.g., announcements, event promotions, newsletters).
Develop infographics, presentations, and other visual assets to support programmes and reports.
Edit and resize designs for various platforms and formats as needed.
B. Brand consistency
Ensure all designs adhere to the organisation’s visual identity guidelines (colours, fonts, logo usage, tone).
Maintain a library of design assets, templates, and approved visuals for team use.
Work collaboratively with content creators and the COO to ensure visual and written content are aligned.
C. Collaboration and communication
Attend virtual team meetings and design briefings to understand project needs and timelines.
Receive and incorporate feedback professionally and in a timely manner.
Communicate proactively about progress, ideas, and any challenges encountered.
D. Creative support
Contribute creative ideas and suggestions to improve the organisation’s visual communication strategy.
Assist in the design of special campaign materials during key events or awareness periods.
Support other team members with design needs on an ad hoc basis.
What we are looking for
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. While formal qualifications are not required, the following will be important:
Some experience in basic graphic design, whether through personal projects, school, freelance work, or self-learning.
Familiarity with design tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar platforms.
A good eye for layout, colour, and typography.
Ability to work independently and manage creative tasks within given timelines.
Openness to feedback and willingness to revise work as needed.
Good communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
Reliable internet access and ability to work in a fully virtual environment.
Added advantage (not required)
The following are not requirements but will strengthen your application:
Experience designing for NGOs, community organisations, or social causes.
Knowledge of motion graphics, short video editing, or animation.
Portfolio of previous design work (personal, academic, or professional).
Familiarity with the organisation’s thematic areas (health, youth development, etc.).
