About JRS Founded in 1980, the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic humanitarian organization whose mission is to accompany, serve, and advocate for refugees and displaced persons. As a work of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), JRS has been serving forcibly displaced people for over 40 years across the world, upholding human dignity, cultural diversity, and non-discrimination of any kind. In Cameroon, JRS operates in several localities affected by humanitarian crises, including Bamenda in the Northwest Region, with interventions aimed at improving access to education, strengthening child protection systems, and providing psychosocial support to vulnerable children.
  2. Background and Context As part of the implementation of its activities in Bamenda, JRS Cameroon is seeking a motivated Finance and Logistics Assistant who will support the efficient financial management and logistics operations of the project. The role ensures compliance with JRS financial procedures, proper documentation of expenditures, and timely procurement and delivery of goods and services.
  3. Assignment Details
  • Contract type and duration: Fixed-term contract of 09 months, renewable based on project needs and performance.

  • Working conditions

  • The position is based in Bamenda with possible travel to project sites within the Northwest Region.

  • The role may require flexibility and adaptability due to the volatile security context.

  1. Key Responsibilities Financial Management
  • Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and documentation for all project expenditures.

  • Prepare payment requests, vouchers, and supporting documents in line with JRS procedures.

  • Support budget tracking and expenditure monitoring.

  • Ensure proper filing of financial documents (physical and electronic).

  • Assist in preparing financial reports as required.

  • Support internal and external audit processes. Logistics and Procurement

  • Assist in procurement processes in accordance with JRS procurement guidelines.

  • Prepare purchase requests, quotations analysis, and purchase orders.

  • Ensure timely acquisition and delivery of project supplies (school kits, hygiene kits, etc.).

  • Maintain an updated inventory of project assets and supplies.

  • Support distribution activities, ensuring proper documentation and beneficiary verification.

  • Coordinate transport and logistics arrangements for project activities. Administrative Support

  • Ensure proper documentation and archiving logistics and financial records.

  • Support coordination with suppliers, service providers, and field teams.

  • Assist in organizing training, workshops, and community events (venue, materials, logistics).

  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  1. Reporting Lines The Finance and Logistics Assistant will report directly to the Project Coordinator and work closely with the National Finance Officer and the National Office administrator at JRS Cameroon. 3
  2. Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in finance and/or logistics, preferably with NGOs.

  • Good knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial procedures.

  • Experience in procurement and supply chain management.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).

  • Familiarity with humanitarian or development project operations is an asset.

  • High level of integrity and accountability.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a multicultural and challenging environment.

  1. Languages
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French will be an asset

  • Knowledge of local languages spoken in the Northwest Region is an advantage.
