Plan international Egypt implements programmes designed to enable communities to improve the lives of the most marginalised children and their families. Plan Egypt’s Country Strategy focuses on five strategic objectives.
Through a five-interconnected, gender transformative and context-fit country objectives, PIE intends along with the various stakeholders at all levels to continue delivering positive and transformative changes so that “Children, especially girls, and young people grow up in an enabling environment, realizing their rights and contributing in both development and humanitarian settings as active agents of change”.
The Opportunity
At Plan International, we are committed to advancing children’s rights and equality for girls. We are currently seeking a Project Assistant, UNHCR – Livelihood to support the implementation of a livelihoods project aimed at improving economic resilience and self-reliance among refugees and vulnerable host community members.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth implementation of project activities at the field level, supporting coordination with partners, monitoring progress, and maintaining quality standards. The position will serve as a key link between beneficiaries, partners, and internal teams to ensure effective delivery of interventions including vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and social cohesion activities.
The Role
As Project Assistant, UNHCR – Livelihood , you will:
Support the implementation and follow-up of project activities in line with the approved workplan
Coordinate closely with partners, field teams, and stakeholders to ensure timely and quality delivery of interventions
Assist in developing and updating project implementation plans and tracking progress against targets
Prepare regular progress reports and contribute to donor reporting requirements
Support monitoring and evaluation activities, including data collection, verification, and documentation
Monitor project budgets, support financial tracking, and ensure expenditures align with approved plans
Facilitate coordination meetings with partners and stakeholders
Support logistics, procurement, and operational processes related to project implementation
Ensure safeguarding, gender equality, and inclusion principles are embedded across all activities
Maintain strong relationships with local authorities, partners, and community representatives
About You
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented professional with strong coordination and field implementation experience.
You will ideally have:
A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field
1-3 years of experience in project implementation within an INGO or humanitarian context
Experience working on livelihoods, economic empowerment, or community development projects
Strong coordination, reporting, and organizational skills
Good understanding of monitoring and evaluation processes
Ability to work effectively with partners, communities, and government stakeholders
Strong communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills
Good command of English language
Willingness to conduct regular field visits (approximately 20% travel)
Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)
Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
Ensures that Humanitarian Program staff are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in project design, during implementation and as principles applied in day-to-day work of Programme team;
Ensures that Plan Egypt contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.
Location: Delta Program Unit in Alex.
