The Madagascar Job Market in 2026

Antananarivo concentrates most of Madagascar's formal professional jobs. The island has a dynamic textile manufacturing sector, growing mining operations (nickel, cobalt), and a significant NGO presence. Tourism, though volatile, generates hospitality and eco-tourism roles.

Active sectors in 2026: textile manufacturing (EPZ free zones), mining (Ambatovy, QMM Rio Tinto), NGOs and international cooperation, tourism and hospitality, telecoms (Telma, Airtel).

Team Tip

Team tip: In Madagascar, working language varies by sector. NGOs use French and English, while textile factories may require Malagasy and/or Mandarin (notable Chinese investment). Specify language skills clearly in your CV.
