The General Manager will be responsible for end-to-end business performance, including operations, supply chain, sales, compliance, and financial management. This role requires a strong leader capable of scaling production, optimizing efficiency, expanding export markets, and ensuring compliance with international food safety standards (e.g., BRCGS). The ideal candidate combines commercial acumen, operational excellence, and leadership capability to drive Groital’s vision of becoming a globally recognized sustainable food brand. Min Qualification: Degree Experience Level: Executive level Experience Length: 8 years Job descriptions & requirements Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Business Growth Develop and execute Groital’s short-, medium-, and long-term business strategy Identify and pursue new market opportunities (local and export – US, EU, Caribbean) Lead expansion initiatives (e.g., increased processing capacity, new product lines) Drive partnerships with investors, buyers, and development agencies Operations & Production Management Oversee daily factory operations (processing, drying, packaging) Ensure optimal utilization of production capacity and resources Implement continuous improvement initiatives (efficiency, waste reduction, yield optimization) Manage production planning aligned with demand forecasts Supply Chain & Procurement Oversee sourcing of raw materials from Ghana and neighboring countries Ensure consistent quality and traceability from farm to finished product Strengthen relationships with smallholder farmers and aggregators Optimize logistics to reduce cost and post-harvest losses Sales, Marketing & Customer Relations Lead Sales strategy across B2B and Export markets. Maintain and expand relationships with international buyers Collaborate on branding, packaging, and market positioning. Drive revenue growth and market share expansion Financial Management Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans Monitor profitability, cost control, and cash flow Ensure efficient working capital management Support fundraising and grant applications Quality Assurance & Compliance Ensure full compliance with BRCGS, HACCP, FDA, and other regulatory standards Oversee implementation of food safety systems and audits Maintain traceability systems and quality documentation Ensure product consistency and adherence to specifications Team Leadership & Organizational Development Lead, mentor, and manage cross-functional teams Build a high-performance culture with clear KPIs Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management Establish clear reporting structures and accountability systems Sustainability & Innovation Drive sustainability initiatives Promote climate-smart agriculture practices within the supply chain Identify opportunities for product innovation and diversification Key Performance Iindicators (KPIs) Production efficiency and capacity utilization Revenue growth and profitability Export sales volume and market expansion Compliance audit results (BRCGS, HACCP) Reduction in post-harvest losses and operational waste Team performance and staff retention Required Skills & Qualification Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering, Food Science, or related field MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage Minimum 8–10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management role Experience in agro-processing, FMCG, or food manufacturing is strongly preferred Proven track record in scaling operations and driving business growth Experience with export markets and international trade is highly desirable Core Competencies Strong leadership and people management skills Excellent financial and commercial acumen Deep understanding of operations and supply chain management Knowledge of food safety standards (BRCGS, HACCP) Strategic thinking with strong execution capability Data-driven decision-making skills Technical Skills Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Odoo) is an advantage Strong analytical and reporting skills Familiarity with traceability and digital systems in food production Results-oriented and highly accountable Strong problem-solving and
