Job description Job Title: Senior Project Planner Location: Witbank Job Type: 11 month contract, expected to work Full-Time hours Job Duties:

Independent Schedule Review and Validation: Conduct a thorough review of the existing project schedule to validate its logic, accuracy, and adherence to industry standards. Confirm that the schedule aligns with project objectives and reflects realistic timelines.

WBS Gap Analysis: Independently review the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) against

the approved project scope, ensuring all components are included and aligned correctly.

Critical Path Management: Analyse the critical path and any secondary paths to identify potential impacts on the project timeline. Confirm that the schedule accurately reflects dependencies and constraints.

Logical Sequencing and Dependencies: Verify the logical sequence of activities and ensure dependencies are clearly defined and practical. Offer recommendations to enhance workflow and minimize potential bottlenecks.

Schedule Risk Management: Identify and document schedule-related risks, such as those associated with dependencies, resources, and key milestones. Develop risk mitigation strategies with the Owners Teams to help prevent schedule delays.

Resource Loading Assessment: Evaluate resource allocation to ensure adequate support for critical project activities. Confirm that resources are effectively distributed across activities to support the critical path.

Progress Analysis: Review progress-tracking mechanisms to determine if they provide real-time and accurate updates. Ensure that progress data supports effective project reporting.

Independent Risk and Schedule Analysis: Perform an objective analysis to identify risks that could affect project completion and offer independent recommendations for enhancing schedule reliability.

ETC Validation: Validate the Estimate to Completion (ETC) for the schedule based on verified data, ensuring it reflects a realistic forecast for project completion.

Recommendations and Reporting: Prepare detailed, unbiased reports on schedule status, critical path insights, identified risks, and recommended adjustments or improvements.

Deliverables for the Senior Project Planner

Schedule Review Report: A comprehensive report detailing findings from the schedule review, covering:

Summary of schedule quality and accuracy,

Analysis of critical path and float management,

Assessment of resource and cost loading,

Identified risks and suggested mitigation strategies,

Recommendations for schedule improvements and optimizations.

Presentation of Findings: A formal presentation to project stakeholders summarizing key findings, risks, and recommended adjustments to support project success.

Required Qualifications: Matric Relevant Degree advantageous

Schedule Professional Certification

Experience: 10 years experience as a project planner Must have experience in SMPP planning

Must have mining experience

MS Projects and P6
