Job description SUMMARY: A well‑established and large manufacturing plant with an in‑house toolroom is seeking an experienced and hands‑on Toolroom Manager to lead and oversee all toolroom operations. This is a senior role suited to a highly skilled professional with strong technical expertise and proven leadership ability.

Location: Johannesburg, South Africa

Salary: R650 000 annually

RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the full operation of the toolroom, ensuring efficiency, quality, and productivity Manage, mentor, and lead a team of toolmakers and support staff Plan, coordinate, and prioritize toolroom activities in line with production requirements Ensure maintenance, repair, and manufacturing of tools meet required standards Implement and maintain best practices, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives Monitor performance, budgets, and resource allocation within the department Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company standards

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified Toolmaker with a Red Seal certification Minimum 10 years’ managerial experience within a toolroom environment Proven experience managing a full toolroom function within a manufacturing plant Strong leadership and people management skills Solid understanding of tool design, maintenance, and manufacturing processes Ability to work under pressure and meet strict production deadlines
