Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced Process Training Specialist to support workforce capability within the Processing Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering technical and safety-focused training programs for process plant personnel. This role is critical in ensuring operational efficiency, safety compliance, and continuous improvement within a high-performance mining processing environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, experience in instructional design, and a passion for training and development, as well as workplace safety.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and deliver training programs specific to mineral processing operations, including crushing, grinding, thickening, dewatering, and tailings management.

Conduct induction and refresher training in line with approved modules and regulatory requirements.

Translate complex technical processes into clear, practical training content.

Deliver competency-based training for plant operators and technical personnel.

Assess employee competency through practical evaluations and written assessments.

Coach and mentor employees to improve technical understanding and operational performance.

Supervise Process trainees to ensure competency, compliance, and readiness.

Provide support for the Company’s mine-wide onboarding and induction training for new hires and contractors.

Prepare training schedules and submit monthly reports to your supervisor.

Maintain training matrices, records, and compliance documentation

Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure employees are trained accordingly.

Work closely with plant supervisors, engineers, Training Officers and safety teams to identify training needs.

Continuously review and update training materials to reflect process changes and operational improvements.

Support incident reduction initiatives through targeted training interventions.

Required Skills or Experience

Knowledge and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or a related hands on mineral processing operational competency training qualification.

Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a mining process plant or mineral processing environment

Strong understanding of plant operations, process control, and safety systems.

Proven experience in delivering technical training in an industrial or mining setting.

Familiarity with competency-based training frameworks.

Experience in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training documentation systems.

Skills

Strong facilitation, coaching, and communication skills.

Ability to present technical concepts in a clear and practical manner.

Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure, production-driven environment.

Adaptability to change priorities and tight schedules.

Strong interpersonal skills with experience working in multicultural and shift-based environments.

Collaborative, proactive, and safety-focused mindset.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
