JOB DESCRIPTION – INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEER

Job Type: Full-Time Department: Engineering Reports To: Head, Instrumentation Job Summary The Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for installing, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing process control instruments, automation systems, and related equipment to ensure optimal performance of refinery operations. The role includes diagnosing faults, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Technical & Operational Install, configure, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and control systems used in refinery operations. Conduct regular preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance. Use scientific and analytical software/tools to diagnose faults in equipment and systems. Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair defective components, wiring, sensors, controllers, transmitters, and automation devices. Ensure machinery, instrumentation, and control systems are operated, maintained, and repaired safely and efficiently. Support automation, process control optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate documentation for calibration, maintenance, and system configuration. Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with applicable automation standards, regulatory requirements, and manufacturer guidelines. Follow and enforce safety rules, operational procedures, and safe work practices. Train operators and relevant staff on the proper use, safety procedures, and handling of instruments and equipment. Maintain proper housekeeping around work areas and equipment rooms. Reporting & Collaboration Conduct data entry, prepare analysis, and generate reports on equipment performance, breakdowns, and maintenance activities. Work with the maintenance team, production team, and engineering supervisors to resolve operational issues. Recommend system improvements, upgrades, and replacements where necessary Qualifications & Experience B.Sc. or HND in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 2–5 years experience in instrumentation, automation, or process control (manufacturing/industrial environment preferred). Knowledge of instrumentation equipment operations, calibration procedures, and troubleshooting methods. Proficiency in automation systems, control logic, and relevant industry regulations/guidelines.
Strong computer skills for data entry, diagnostics, analysis, and reporting. Good understanding of refinery operations is an added advantage.
