Organizational Context and Scope The International Organization for Migration (IOM) operates in an increasingly digital-first communications environment, where high-quality, relevant, and ethically produced content is central to visibility, advocacy, donor engagement, and public trust. With expanding programmatic delivery, donor reporting requirements, and a growing demand for compelling digital storytelling across platforms, IOM Nigeria requires a dedicated professional to oversee, manage, and safeguard the quality, consistency, and strategic direction of all content and digital assets produced on behalf of the mission. The Content and Digital Assets Officer will serve as the custodian of IOM Nigeria’s digital and visual storytelling ecosystem, ensuring that all content production meets professional industry standards, adheres strictly to IOM branding, safeguarding, and consent policies, and aligns with organizational priorities at country, regional, and headquarters levels. With oversight and guidance from the Chief of Communication, the Content and Digital Assets Officer will support the end-to-end coordination of all content and digital asset production for IOM Nigeria. This includes video, photography, graphics, animations, podcasts, photo essays, digital publications, and campaign-specific assets produced internally or through external contractors. The role helps ensure that all content produced is relevant, engaging, ethically sound, brand-compliant, donor-appropriate, and fit for purpose, whether short-form or long-form, while maintaining close coordination with IOM Headquarters and the Regional Office.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief of Communications:
Support the development and production of multimedia content including short videos, photography, graphics, and basic digital assets for IOM Nigeria’s communication and visibility needs.
Assist in coordinating content production with field offices and programme teams to capture stories, photos, and videos from project locations.
Support the preparation and packaging of multimedia materials for social media, web platforms, and communication campaigns in line with IOM branding guidelines.
Maintain and organize a digital repository of photos, videos, and visual materials, ensuring appropriate tagging, consent documentation, and basic quality control.
Liaise with external content creators such as videographers, photographers, and designers, and support the review of outputs to ensure they meet IOM branding and quality standards.
Support the development of visual materials required for donor visibility, reports, presentations, and communication products.
I Identify youth content creators and influencers, particularly in field locations, and support collaboration opportunities that help amplify IOM messaging while ensuring alignment with branding and ethical guidelines.
Provide guidance to field offices and programme teams on capturing photos, short videos, and simple storytelling content using mobile devices.
Ensure that all multimedia content includes the necessary consent documentation and follows IOM protection and safeguarding principles before publication.
Assist in coordinating with the Communications Unit, Regional Office, and Headquarters to ensure content outputs align with institutional communication standards.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience Education
University degree in Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, Film, Digital Media, or a related field.
Minimum two years of professional experience in content production, multimedia storytelling, or digital communications
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Experience
Demonstrated experience managing video, photography, and digital production workflows.
Experience working with external creative vendors and service providers.
Solid understanding of safeguarding, consent, and ethical storytelling in humanitarian or development contexts.
Familiarity with donor visibility requirements and multi-platform content production.

Languages All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish). For this position, F luency in English is required. S trong, proven written and spoken proficiency in English is required, with the ability to draft, review, and assess content to a high editorial standard. Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments. Knowledge of Nigerian languages is considered a strong asset including Pidgin, as it supports more culturally grounded storytelling, effective engagement with field offices and communities, and improved relevance of locally produced content.
