General Manager

This is not just another General Manager role — it is a high-impact, multi-country leadership mandate with full operational, commercial, and strategic ownership across a complex African portfolio.

You will be responsible for building a sustainable, high-performing business across multiple jurisdictions, driving profitability, operational excellence, and long-term market leadership in a technically demanding mining and chemicals environment.

What you will lead:

Full P&L ownership across a multi-country African region, including revenue, EBIT, and capital performance

End-to-end operational leadership across sites, manufacturing, logistics, and service delivery environments

Strategic growth, market expansion, and development of new revenue streams across the region

Commercial leadership including key account management, RFQs/RFPs, pricing strategy, and contract negotiations

Deployment and optimisation of assets, including lifecycle management, CAPEX planning, and reliability performance

SHEQ leadership with a strong focus on Zero Harm, regulatory compliance, and operational risk mitigation

Stakeholder engagement across clients, regulators, partners, and internal executive leadership

Driving operational efficiencies, cost optimisation, and continuous improvement across all business units

Leadership of diverse, cross-cultural teams with a strong focus on capability building and localisation strategies

Governance, compliance, and “license to operate” across multiple African jurisdictions

What we are looking for:

10–15+ years’ experience in senior leadership roles within mining, chemicals, explosives, or heavy industrial environments

Proven track record managing multi-site / multi-country operations in Africa

Strong commercial capability with demonstrated success in revenue growth, margin optimisation, and contract negotiation

Deep operational understanding across production, logistics, asset management, and technical service delivery

Experience managing complex stakeholder environments, including regulators, clients, and joint venture partners

Strong financial acumen with full ownership of budgets, forecasts, working capital, and CAPEX deployment

Demonstrated ability to drive safety culture, compliance, and operational discipline in high-risk environments

Experience leading large, geographically dispersed teams and building high-performance cultures

Strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into execution across challenging and evolving markets

Degree in Mining, Engineering, or related field (MBA or postgraduate qualification highly advantageous)
