Job Description JOB VANCANCY – HEAD OF BUSINESS - PHARMACIST Reporting to : Chief Executive Officer Position: Head of Business Location:  Accra Role Type : Senior Management / Leadership JOB SUMMARY The Head of Business must be an experience pharmacist and will be responsible for the overall institutional growth and operational excellence of the company. A critical component of this role is the end-to-end management of the Tendering process —identifying, preparing, and winning high-value institutional and government contracts while leading the broader sales and clinical teams. Lead the technical and financial preparation of tender documents, ensuring 100% compliance with regulatory and client requirements. Actively monitor government gazettes, institutional portals, and NGO procurement notices for relevant pharmaceutical tenders. Stay ahead of pharmaceutical trends, competitor pricing, and new drug registrations to keep the company’s portfolio competitive. Identifying high-potential clinics, hospitals, and pharmacies to maximize reach. Stock Monitoring : Working with distributors and hospital procurement pharmacists to ensure that when a doctor prescribes your drug, it is actually on the shelf. Competitor Analysis : Monitoring the activities of rival firms and identifying gaps in their clinical offerings that your products can fill. CME Organization : Planning and executing Continuing Medical Education (CME) seminars or round-table discussions for healthcare professionals. Monitoring the lifecycle of a tender from the initial bid to the "Notice of Award," and ensuring the supply chain delivers on time to avoid penalties. Working with the Pharmacy Council to ensure all products and the respective SOPs are per the required regulation. Ensuring that institutional clients (hospitals/clinics) pay within the credit window to maintain a healthy cash flow. Required Skills or Experience Skills & Competencies: Clinical Mastery: In-depth knowledge of pharmacology, drug-drug interactions, and therapeutic categories. Attention to Detail: Ability to review 100+ page tender documents without missing a single signature or technical requirement. Negotiation Skills: Capable of negotiating high-value contracts with procurement officers and hospital boards. Analytical Thinking: Proficiency in Excel for price modeling and sales trend analysis. Ethics & Integrity: Strict adherence to the Pharmacy Council’s code of ethics and pharmaceutical marketing regulations. Education & Experience Requirements: Education: Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) is mandatory . Licensure: Must be a Registered Pharmacist with a valid practicing license. Experience: * Minimum of 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Proven track record in managing successful government or institutional tenders. Prior experience as a Medical Representative is highly preferred.
