Job Description

Location: Accra / Regional Assignment

Reporting To: Credit Manager / Head of Operations

About The Institution

A reputable Tier-2 deposit-taking microfinance institution operating in Ghana is seeking a driven and experienced Senior Credit Officer to support portfolio growth, credit quality, and revenue performance through effective credit sales, monitoring, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Drive credit sales, loan growth, and portfolio expansion in line with approved targets

Originate, appraise, and recommend loan applications in compliance with credit policy and Bank of Ghana guidelines

Actively market loan products and mobilise quality borrowers, groups, and MSMEs

Achieve assigned disbursement, repayment, and recovery targets

Monitor loan portfolio performance, including PAR, NPLs, and early warning signals

Conduct field visits, client assessments, and post-disbursement monitoring

Support loan recoveries, restructurings, and delinquency management

Supervise and provide technical guidance to Credit Officers where applicable

Ensure proper credit documentation, controls, and compliance at all times

Prepare periodic credit and sales performance reports for management

Collaborate with Operations, Risk, and Branch teams to improve portfolio quality and profitability

Support agricultural loans, group lending, MSME financing, and special credit products

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field

Professional qualification (ACIB or equivalent) is an added advantage

Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in credit operations and loan sales within microfinance, rural banking, or financial services

Proven ability to meet and exceed credit sales and recovery targets

Strong understanding of credit appraisal, monitoring, and recovery processes

Practical experience in agricultural finance, group lending, and MSME credit

Working knowledge of Bank of Ghana regulatory requirements

Key Competencies

Strong sales drive with sound credit judgment

Excellent negotiation, persuasion, and relationship-management skills

High level of integrity and attention to detail

Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving abilities

Ability to work under pressure and deliver results
