The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited is incorporated under the Companies Act of the Laws of Malawi. Its core business is to procure, transmit and distribute electric power in Malawi as well as manage System Market Operations and Single Buyer in Malawi.

ESCOM is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions currently existing in the Corporation.

11. Assistant Linesperson (433 Positions)

Grade : ES13

Location : All ESCOM Stations

Supervised by : Distribution Supervisor

Purpose of the Job To carry out construction, maintenance and operations on the distribution and transmission network.

Roles and Responsibilities whilst on training

Carrying corridor clearing

Carrying out pole base clearing

Line patrols (defects and data collection)

Loading and offloading materials

Dressing of structures

Replacing defective structures and accessories

Excavation of pole holes and trenches

Issuing out notices prior to a planned outage

Taking care of working tools

Adherence to safety standards

Adherence to construction standards

 

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Malawi School Certificate of Education

Candidates who have previously worked for the Corporation on seasonal or temporary basis for a minimum period of 12 months and had separated without any disciplinary issues are encouraged to apply.

Age: 18 – 35 Years

 

Note: Selected candidates will undergo a 6 months training and upon successful completion of the training shall sit for Power Linesperson Certificate Examination. Only candidates that will pass the examination shall be appointed to a substantive position of Assistant Power Linesperson Graded ES13. All those that will not be successful shall be released immediately.
