TERMS OF REFERENCE

Reporting to the UNICEF Nigeria Gender and Development Manager and working closely with the lead writer, the consultant will produce: - Concept Development - Illustration Production - Book Design and Layout - Multimedia Asset Development - Review and Finalization If you would like to know more about this consultancy, please review the complete Terms of Reference here:   Terms of Reference Illustration and Graphic Design.pdf Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Illustration, Fine Arts, Visual Communication, or related field

Work Experience:

Minimum 5 years of professional experience in illustration, graphic design, or visual storytelling Proven experience in designing children's/adolescent educational or storytelling materials Demonstrated portfolio of published illustrated content (books, campaigns, digital media) Demonstrated experience in developing illustrations that reflect African contexts, cultures, and aesthetics Experience working with development agencies, NGOs, or UN organizations is an asset UNICEF.

Language Requirements:

Fluency in English (required)

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills:

Strong expertise in digital illustration tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Procreate) Ability to create culturally grounded visual narratives, reflecting African aesthetics and representation Experience in character design and visual storytelling for youth audiences Strong understanding of gender equality and inclusion principles Ability to produce print-ready and digital multimedia outputs Strong communication and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team

Desirables:

Experience working on gender, adolescent empowerment, or social norms transformation projects Experience producing multilingual designs Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive design standards
