This temporary position involves planning, coordinating, and implementing child protection services to ensure effective delivery to affected populations. The officer will work closely with the Child Protection Specialist and the Chief of Field Office to facilitate emergency program implementation and monitor progress. The role requires a commitment to promoting children's rights and ensuring equitable access to protection services. Candidate Requirements: Bachelor's degree in social work, international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or relevant field 2 years of relevant work experience in child protection Advocacy and partnership building skills Fluency in French and Malagasy The Child Protection Officer is to be based in Tamatave where UNICEF is currently implementing a multi-sectoral response programme following cyclone Gezani in February 2026. The Child Protection Officer reports to Child Protection Specialist, Level 3 who is based in the Country Office in Antananarivo. The Child Protection Officer will work in close collaboration with the Chief of Field Office of the Fenerive field ofice currently deployed to Tamatave to coordinate UNICEF's emergency response. The primary purpose of the position is to lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of UNICEF's Child Protection in Emergency (CPiE) response programme in Tamatave, ensuring timely, effective, and quality delivery of interventions following cyclone Gezani. The incumbent provides professional technical, operational, and administrative support throughout the programme cycle from response planning and design to implementation, monitoring, and reporting to ensure that child protection services are effectively delivered to affected populations. H/She prepares, executes, manages, and oversees a range of technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate emergency programme implementation, monitor progress, evaluate results, and ensure timely reporting. Work Experience: 2 years of relevant work experience in social development planning and management in child protection related areas is required. Skills : Advocacy, partnership building, capacity building skills. Language Requirements: Fluency in French and Malagasy is required. Desirables : Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, English, Russian or Spanish), or local language, Relevant experience in programme development in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or organization, Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
