R&D Project Engineer (Production Technology) Engineering Communicate Recruitment Cape Town , South Africa Until 2026/07/25 Job description Job Description: Design and develop automated production systems and workflows for improved efficiency and scalability Integrate robotics and factory automation solutions for repetitive manufacturing processes Optimize production machinery, including CNC equipment and assembly systems Drive process engineering initiatives , including DfMA and production flow improvements Develop tooling, jigs, and fixtures to support automated manufacturing Lead pilot testing, commissioning, and implementation of new technologies Create SOPs and technical documentation for factory deployment Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation with digital systems

Expérience

Minimum 24 years experience in manufacturing, factory automation, or process engineering Strong understanding of automation systems, robotics, and PLC programming Experience with CAD/CAM tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Fusion 360) Knowledge of production optimization, machinery integration, and workflow design Hands-on approach with the ability to troubleshoot and improve factory systems Programming exposure (Python, C++, or similar) is advantageous Qualification: Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered
