JOB ADVERTISEMENT : Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) Officer - Plan International

Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) Officer Date: 8 Jan 2026

Location: Bamenda, Cameroon

Company: Plan International

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We believe in the power and potential of every child but know this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it is girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges girls and vulnerable children face. We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood and we enable children to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

For over 85 years, we have rallied other determined optimists to transform the lives of all children in more than 80 countries.

We won’t stop until we are all equal.

The Opportunity

The Child Protection in Emergency (CPiE) Officer contributes to creating lasting change for children by implementing high-quality, lifesaving child protection interventions in humanitarian and emergency settings.

In this role, your aim is to prevent and respond to child protection risks including abuse, neglect, exploitation, violence, separation, and harmful practices through the delivery of psychosocial support, quality case management, and the strengthening of community-based child protection mechanisms, in line with Plan International policies and the Child Protection Minimum Standards (CPMS).

Specifically, you will:

Implement child protection activities under an ECHO-funded humanitarian project in Menchum and Ngoketunjia Divisions of the North West Region. Works directly with crisis-affected children, adolescents, caregivers, and community structures across multiple hard-to-reach communities. Provides technical support and supervision to Social/Case Workers and community-based child protection actors. Contributes to project planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting, including donor reporting requirements. Engages with local authorities, community leaders, humanitarian partners, and coordination mechanisms (e.g. Protection Cluster). Requires regular field travel in insecure and volatile contexts, with responsibility for ensuring safe and ethical programme delivery.

The Individual

We are looking for someone with a bachelor degree in Human Rights, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. As Child Protection in Emergency (CPiE) Officer, have an experience in Child Protection, with at least 2 years in humanitarian or emergency contexts. You need to have a strong knowledge of Child Protection in Emergencies and Child Protection Minimum Standards (CPMS), a proven experience in child protection case management, including handling high-risk and sensitive cases, an experience working with Community-Based Child Protection Mechanisms.

As Child Protection in Emergency (CPiE) Officer, you need to have an excellent ability to work in insecure, stressful, and volatile environments and be fluency in English (written and spoken), knowing pidgin is an asset. Knowledge of local languages is desirable.
