Since 2008, Welbodi Partnership has worked in close partnership with hospital management, health facility staff, and the Ministry of Health to improve access to maternal and child health outcomes in Sierra Leone. We do this through a range of health system strengthening activities, staff training, hospital improvement projects, and community engagement. For further information about our work, please see: www.welbodipartnership.org CRADLE-SMART is a Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) funded research project implemented in Sierra Leone and Zambia. Our CRADLE-SMART Consortium brings together world-leading research groups with extensive experience in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). The project aims to reduce maternal mortality from pre-eclampsia, haemorrhage, anaemia and hypertensive disorders through co-developed point-of-care diagnostic technologies integrated into a digital care bundle for testing in low-resource settings. Wellbody Partnership leads implementation in Sierra Leone in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation and international academic partners. Maternal mortality rates remain over 100-fold higher in the worst-affected countries, yet most deaths are preventable with timely detection, triage, and management. This programme will transform antenatal care in settings with the highest maternal mortality from pre-eclampsia and haemorrhage by implementing proven, evidence-based strategies. Through strong community partnerships and established research networks, we will co-develop affordable, technology-enabled solutions that deliver high-quality, personalised care at low cost. Our trusted, grassroots approach enables rapid, sustainable implementation, empowering women and health workers while addressing one of the world’s most severe health inequalities.
