Post Title: Program Officer in the Operations Department - Good Neighbors-Cameroon (Mbalmayo)
On the supervision of: Head of Operations Department
Place: Good Neighbors-Cameroon (Mbalmayo)
Date: Good Neighbors Cameroon (GNCMR) is an international Non-Governmental Organization with its Head Office in Yaounde and field offices in Mbamayo and Maroua. GNCMR’s work is focused on promoting the rights of children and empowering communities towards self- reliance through projects in Education, Child protection, Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH), Health, Food Security, Advocacy, Environment and Income generation. Good Neighbors Cameroon is committed to seeking sustainable solutions to development and humanitarian challenges.
Duration: 12 months, potentially renewable
Description of functions:
Under the supervision of the Head of the Operations Department, the Program Officer will collaborate with the other Program staff, Employees and volunteers in the Organization. You have to;
1. Project Implementation and Management: - Support the implementation of Community Development projects including income generation and agricultural projects - Monitor and report project progress, providing insights and recommendations for improvement
2. Technical Assistance and Guidance- Provide technical assistance and guidance to beneficiaries on sustainable Agricultural practices and community led development- Support capacity building for Community Development Committees
3. Project Development and Proposal Writing- Support the research of new Community Development Projects, drafting proposals, developing plans and budgets for new projects/extensions. - Support in managing the field program, ensuring effective and efficient implementation. - Assist in coordinating regular project reviews with the team, local stakeholders, and project partners.
4. Representation and Coordination: - Manage relationships with stakeholders, especially at the community level. - Attend regular internal meetings with the department to plan and review activities, present reports, and ensure effective communication.
5. Reporting and Documentation: - Assist in coordinating compilation of monthly and quarterly reports at the field office level. - Type documents, reports, and correspondence related to different projects.
6. Monitoring and Evaluation: - Support M&E activities, including data collection, internal reporting, and tracking project progress and results. - Monitor activity progress according to project indicators and attend project activities requiring M&E in the field. - Support research and study activities on M&E-related issues.
Qualification Required- Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy - At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably with an NGO- Strong understanding of project management principles, M&E, and reporting- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel- Fluency in French, English and local languages - Experience in agriculture and community development with a focus on sustainable agricultural practices and community led development- Experience working in a similar context or with similar stakeholders (government, communities, etc.)- Must be ready and available to travel in places that Good Neighbors Cameroon is carrying out her projects.
Skills- Good interpersonal, communication, networking and coordination skills-Positive team player with a great attitude- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines- Good conceptual skills with ability to elaborate, read, analyze and edit documents
