About the Role The Forum is looking for two experienced Banqueting / Food & Beverage Managers to join our venue operations team. We are hiring for One role based at Hyde Park, Johannesburg. One role based in Constantia, Cape Town. This is a hands-on operational role responsible for the successful delivery of events, functions, weddings, corporate functions, and premium hospitality experiences. The successful candidate will own the setup, service delivery, staff supervision, stock control, event-day execution, and operational readiness of the venue. This role is ideal for someone who is strong on the floor, calm under pressure, disciplined with standards, and experienced in managing waiters, bar staff, service teams, and casual staff. Key Responsibilities Manage event setup and breakdown. Lead banqueting service during functions. Supervise waiters, bar staff, service staff, and casual staff. Ensure the venue is fully ready before every event.

Check floor plans, function sheets, stock, equipment, service stations, bar setup, and room presentation. Liaise with kitchen, AV, maintenance, cleaning, and event coordination teams. Ensure food and beverage delivery runs smoothly and professionally. Maintain high standards of guest service during functions. Manage bar and beverage stock. Control service equipment, breakages, wastage, and operational consumables. Monitor casual labour usage and staff productivity. Ensure hygiene, health, safety, and service compliance. Resolve event-day service issues quickly and professionally. Report operational issues, stock concerns, staffing problems, and client feedback.

Minimum 3 years’ experience in banqueting, food and beverage, hospitality, events, hotels, restaurants, or premium function venues. Experience supervising waiters, bar staff, service staff, or casual teams. Strong understanding of event setup, breakdown, service flow, and guest service. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure. Good stock control and cost awareness.

Strong communication and team leadership skills. Professional appearance and conduct. Willingness to work event-driven hours, including evenings and weekends. Advantageous Experience in weddings, corporate events, conferences, or high-end private functions. Bar management experience. Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety, and service compliance. Experience working in a premium hospitality or venue environment. The Ideal Candidate You are hands-on, organised, and service-driven. You do not wait for problems to happen — you check, prepare, brief, correct, and lead from the floor. You are comfortable managing casual staff, permanent staff, bar teams, waiters, and service teams. You understand that excellent guest experience depends on preparation, discipline, timing, teamwork, and attention to detail. You take ownership of the event-day operation and protect both the client experience and the profitability of the venue. Working Hours This role requires flexibility. Events often take place during evenings, weekends, and public holidays. The successful candidate must be available for event-driven operational hours.
