Research Associate-Nutritionist, Fianarantsoa, Madagascar Organization: International Potato Center (CIP) Country: Madagascar Field location: Fianarantsoa Office: CIP in Fianarantsoa The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking to recruit one (01) dynamic and experienced Research Associate - Nutritionist to support efforts to improve community nutrition and food security. The successful candidate will lead the implementation of nutrition-sensitive interventions under the IFAD-funded DEFIS project in the Amoron'i Mania and Haute Matsiatra regions, focusing on the promotion and adoption of improved, resilient, and nutritious sweet potato varieties and their associated technologies. About CIP CIP is a member of CGIAR, a global research partnership dedicated to achieving a food-secure future. CGIAR science focuses on transforming food, land, and water systems in the context of the climate crisis. Research is carried out by 13 CGIAR Centers/Alliances in close collaboration with hundreds of partners, including national and regional research institutes, civil society organizations, academia, development organizations, and the private sector. About the Role The successful candidate will report to the Country Manager and Senior Scientist for Madagascar and will be based in Fianarantsoa. Key Responsibilities: Deliver nutrition training and community engagement activities, including balanced diet education, culinary demonstrations, and the development of nutrition and training materials. Support project implementation, including logistics for distributing nutrition-related materials and providing technical backstopping to partners and beneficiaries. Prepare and support data collection and reporting by developing data collection tools, gathering field data, and contributing to data analysis and project reports. Coordinate nutrition awareness activities, working closely with ONN and other partners to design and implement community-focused campaigns. Represent CIP and strengthen partnerships by participating in local and regional workshops and maintaining strong relationships with local authorities and stakeholders. Requirements Master's degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Biology, or a related field. At least six (6) years of relevant work experience. Specialized knowledge of sweet potatoes is an added advantage. Experience in designing training tools, agricultural extension, and working with smallholder farmers. Experience in gender-responsive interventions is preferred. Excellent spoken and written French and Malagasy skills. Working knowledge of English is required. Strong planning and organizational abilities, teamwork orientation, and effective interpersonal communication skills. Ability to use digital tools is an advantage. Advanced proficiency in MS Office software packages. Ability to work in difficult conditions and under pressure. Benefits Why should you consider this opportunity?
