Take the road less travelled
JOB DESCRIPTION
Pricing Manager
Department: Commercial & Finance | Location: Sandton, Johannesburg (with travel across subsidiaries) | Reports to: Commercial Director Employment type: Permanent | Closing date: Open until filled
About Two Roads Group The Two Roads (2Roads) Group is an aggregator of industrial manufacturing and engineering services companies operating in the industrial processing sector. Our focus areas include the manufacturing, maintenance, inspection, testing, and repair of process flow equipment — valves, pumps, vessels, tanks, pipes, actuators, flow meters, steel structures, and boilers. With subsidiaries across South Africa, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Mozambique, and the UAE, 2Roads is growing its footprint as a premier integrated industrial solutions provider in Africa.
Role Overview The Pricing Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the Group's commercial pricing strategy across all subsidiaries and service lines. This is a high-impact role that sits at the intersection of finance, commercial operations, and business development. The successful candidate will own the end-to-end pricing function — from cost-to-serve modelling and tender pricing to contract price adjustments and margin optimisation — ensuring that 2Roads remains competitively positioned while maximising profitability across its diverse portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Pricing Strategy & Financial Modelling
Develop and implement competitive pricing models for tenders, RFQs, and long-term service contracts across all 2Roads subsidiaries.
Build and maintain cost-to-serve models incorporating labour, materials, subcontracting, overhead, and margin targets.
Conduct contract price adjustment (CPA) and escalation calculations in line with contractual terms and applicable indices.
Perform sensitivity analysis and scenario modelling to evaluate pricing risk under varying market and cost conditions.
Develop and maintain a Group-wide pricing tool (Excel or ERP-integrated) to standardise and improve pricing accuracy across subsidiaries.
Tender & Bid Management
Lead the commercial pricing function for all major tenders and bids submitted by Group companies.
Analyse client specifications, scope of work, and procurement requirements to produce accurate and competitive bid prices.
Collaborate with operations, procurement, and project teams to validate cost inputs and ensure margin compliance.
Review and approve pricing submissions before they are released to clients or procurement portals.
Ensure compliance with CIDB regulations, PFMA requirements, and Preferential Procurement Act guidelines where applicable.
Margin Optimisation & Cost Control
Monitor actual-versus-budgeted margins across active contracts and investigate variances.
Work with subsidiary finance and operations teams to identify cost reduction opportunities without compromising service quality.
Provide monthly margin and pricing performance reports to the Group CFO and Executive Committee.
Flag underperforming contracts and recommend corrective pricing or scope renegotiation strategies.
Revenue & Forecast Planning
Contribute to the Group's annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes with pricing-informed revenue projections.
Develop demand forecasts for aftermarket orders and capital project pipelines in collaboration with business development teams.
Align pricing assumptions with Group strategic objectives and client growth plans.
Contract & Stakeholder Management
Advise project managers and commercial teams on contractual pricing obligations, escalation rights, and variation order processes.
Engage directly with key clients on pricing negotiations, contract renewals, and rate reviews.
Build and maintain relationships with procurement and supply chain teams across subsidiaries to ensure pricing inputs are accurate and current.
Provide training and guidance to subsidiary finance and operational staff on pricing methodologies and tools.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure all pricing documentation meets internal governance standards and is audit-ready.
Maintain a pricing register and version-controlled rate schedules across all service lines and geographies.
Align pricing practices with IFRS revenue recognition requirements and Group financial policies.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Finance, Engineering, Commerce, or a related field (essential).
Postgraduate qualification (Honours, B-Tech, MBA, or CIMA) is advantageous.
CPIM, CAPM, or Certified Cost Professional designation is highly desirable.
Registration with a professional body (SACQSP, RICS, PMI, CIMA) is an advantage.
Experience
Minimum 8 years' experience in a pricing, cost engineering, commercial, or quantity surveying role.
Proven track record in the industrial manufacturing, engineering services, mining, or plant maintenance sector (essential).
Demonstrated experience in tender pricing, contract price adjustments, and margin management.
Experience working across multiple subsidiaries, business units, or geographies is advantageous.
Exposure to process flow equipment (valves, pumps, NDT, welding) pricing is a strong advantage.
Technical Skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel (financial modelling, dynamic pricing tools, scenario analysis).
Proficiency in SAP, Sage, or similar ERP systems.
Knowledge of relevant South African procurement legislation and contract frameworks (NEC, JBCC, FIDIC, GCC).
Strong understanding of cost structures in industrial services environments — labour, materials, plant, subcontracting, overhead.
Familiarity with IFRS revenue recognition standards (IFRS 15).
Competencies & Attributes
Analytically rigorous — able to build robust financial models and defend pricing decisions with data.
Commercially astute — understands the trade-off between competitiveness and profitability.
Strong communicator — can translate complex pricing analysis into clear recommendations for executive and operational audiences.
Detail-oriented — high accuracy in cost estimation and contract compliance.
Collaborative — works effectively across finance, operations, procurement, and business development functions.
Proactive and self-driven — comfortable operating in a fast-growing, multi-entity group environment.
What Two Roads Offers
A high-visibility, strategic role at the heart of a rapidly expanding pan-African industrial group.
Exposure to diverse industrial sectors: flow control, NDT, specialist welding, lining, supply chain, and international markets.
A dynamic and entrepreneurial culture that rewards initiative and results.
Competitive remuneration package, performance incentives, and professional development support.
Opportunity to build and lead the Group's pricing function from the ground up.

Technical proficiency — beBee expects hands-on mastery of Excel. Don't just list them: describe a concrete project where you used them and the outcome delivered.
Positioning — Your cover letter must answer one question: why YOU for THIS specific role right NOW? Avoid generic templates — one sentence on what you specifically bring beats three generic paragraphs.
Measurable achievements — At this level, back every skill with a precise example and a quantified result. Prepare 2-3 strategic questions about this organization's current challenges — candidates who anticipate difficulties are consistently rated higher.
