Job description Job Specification: Half-Day Bookkeeper

Location: Somerset West, Cape Town (Office-based)

Employment Type: Part-time (Half-day), Straight salary (no benefits)

Reporting to: Accountant

Company Overview

We are a fast-paced retail business seeking a hands-on team player to join our small finance team. This role supports the accountant with essential bookkeeping and admin tasks while providing receptionist relief as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Perform bookkeeping to trial balance, including reconciliations (bank, creditors, debtors).

Handle finance admin duties such as invoice processing, payments, and basic reporting.

Relieve receptionist during peak times or absences (answering calls, basic front-desk support).

Assist the accountant with ad-hoc tasks in a collaborative, high-energy environment.

Requirements

Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles.

Degree or BTech in Accounting/Finance (or equivalent).

Minimum 1 year relevant working experience.

Knowledge of Kerridge system highly advantageous.

Strong attention to detail, ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail setting, and team-oriented mindset.
