Position: ICT Officer : Datacenter & Server Administrator

Department: Network & Infrastructure

Salary Scale: COBSS 5, Officer Level I

Reports To: Senior Manager ICT – Datacenter & Server Administrator

Position Objective

The ICT Officer: Datacenter & Server Administrator will be responsible for managing and supporting datacenters, servers, storage, backup, replication, and recovery programs. The role is designed to adapt to changing business needs while offering standardized technology support functions across the bank.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

Install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain server operating systems and participate in multiple technical projects.

Take an active role in new projects related to Windows and file-server sharing, data migrations, and disaster recovery support.

Manage daily business support activities for:

Network Attached Storage (NAS)

Direct Attached Storage (DAS)

Storage Area Network (SAN)

Manage operational activities related to CIFS shares and interact with business representatives and support teams to accommodate operational requests.

Install, configure, test, maintain, and manage daily business support activities for Microsoft Exchange Servers.

Participate in all storage-related projects, including new acquisitions and upgrades of existing storage infrastructure.

Manage and monitor the availability, performance, scalability, and security of storage and server infrastructure.

Provide ongoing support for the backup infrastructure.

Maintain backup infrastructure for both bare-metal and virtual machines using appropriate SAN, network, or local storage configurations.

Use Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and third-party tools in Unix, Linux, and Windows environments.

Maintain information security across the servers’ infrastructure space.

Monitor and correct critical backup issues.

Create recovery processes for failures and performance bottlenecks.

Configure alerts to enable proactive response times.

Install, configure, test, and maintain system management tools, SAN, tape infrastructure, and server plugins with the latest hardware and software patches and firmware versions.

Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability, including verification of:

Data replication

Failover copies

Redundant data sets

Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks.

Identify possible solutions and work with developers to implement fixes.

Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.

Provide second-level support.

Ensure technical documentation exists and remains current for supported environments.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields from a recognized institution:

Computer Science

Information Technology

Security Computer Engineering

Any related discipline

At least four (4) years of working experience in a relevant field.

IT professional certifications are highly desired, including:

VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA)

ITIL

Linux Administration

Microsoft Administration

Experience in virtualization products is highly desired, including:

VMware vSphere

Suse Rancher

Containers

Kubernetes

Experience in backup products such as Veeam Backup & Replication and related storage products is highly desired.

Experience in storage, backup, replication, and recovery areas within organizations of similar scale is highly desired.

Equivalent client-service experience in the field is also highly desired.

Basic knowledge of UNIX system administration will be an added advantage.

Ability to present technical data in a comprehensive yet clear manner.

Strong knowledge of:

Virtualization

Server operating systems

Backup systems

SAN storage

Strong planning and organizing skills.

Project management skills.
